View from our room balcony, the Marina at Porto Cristo

View of the rear of the hotel including the pool area

The hotel is on the creast of a hill from the port. from the balcony of the room there was a stunning view of the port.
The hotel has a good location if you are driving with lots of car parking space in the front, for those who have no transport the bus stop is by the hotel gates giving access to all the small coves and beeches near by.

The Town itself is very quiet and closes quite early, so for entertainment you have to travel to either S coma (8 km) or Cala Millor (12 Km)which means getting a taxi back (around 14 Euro)

The hotel Management were pleasent and tried to accomodate the requests from the guests. I got the feeling that the hotel was not as full as it could have been, the staffing level at the bar left a bit to be desired, the bar was not always manned.
There is a nice sized pool with sunning area which we enjoyed often.

Here is an important tip.
Make sure you obtain the European Heath Insurance Card from the NHS before travelling.
I took ill with a painful throat infection, at my request the Hotel made an appointment at the medical centre in Porto Criso and I was seen by a doctor and given medication at no cost to me.
I and my wife were very impressed with the serice.

There was no tea or coffee making facility within the room, we overcame this by purchasing a small kettle locally, and obtained permission (because of my sore throat) from the restaurant manager to obtain tea and coffee satchels from breakfast.

The food was fairly consistant always salad, fresh lettuce, tomatoes and various
meats, fish and pastas, a soup of the day, ice cream and fruit salads and fresh fruits.
The only problem was from time to time they would use strange sauces which I must admit was not to my taste.
Breakfast was always the same, fatty bacon, sausage, eggs, tinned tomatoes, baked beans, various cerials and breads, cofee and tea.

Would I use the hotel again.
Yes.
Two star rating so lacks certain facilites but it also has a very low two star price.

Monteverde: Rubbish! by Mand J

We stayed at the Monte Verde last week. No way would I ever go back there. Don't get me wrong, the hotel itself was fine. It was clean and the pool was nice to lounge next to. The staff were nice enough. It was the food and drink.

The food had a lot to be desired and the vodka tasted like petrol. Everything was covered in garlic and i'm sure they used the same alcohol for every drink but put a different food colouring in it to make it look different.

Porto Cristo is a very very quiet sleepy Marina village. There is NOTHING to do there at all.

The only good thing was a bar down the road from the hotel called The Alibi Bar. A lovely couple called Dave and Shirley run it and make you feel welcome. Dave sings some night and they do karaoke some night too.

There was also a restaurant called Billy's Bar by the River run by a really cool guy called Billy funnily enough! ;o) If you get a chance to visit this bar then try the lasagne or the beef dinner - absolutely fantastic!
