We have just come back from a 2 week holiday at the Nido del Aguila and although we had a good time we probably would'nt stay at the Nido again.
The complex itself was quite nice but we were not that keen on the rooms. They were a bit dark and dull although they were clean. They are also very hot and stuffy as there is no air conditioning but you can hire a fan from reception which we had to do. The beds were very uncomfortable and the bedding was quite rough and itchy which was the last thing we needed as all that up hill walking makes you very tired!We only seen a couple of cockroaches during our stay but the bungalows did tend to get alot of ants. They were in nearly every corner of the rooms including around the sink and the hob and in the wardrobe.
The pool was nice and kept clean and we were also allowed to use the pools in the Eden apartments and the Lara apartments which are right next door.
Maid service was three times a week and they did clean the room thoroughly there was also a gardener who tidied the gardens up once a week.
The restaurant was very clean with a good selection of food which was quite nice and they also played a good selection of music through the day until about 12. 30am.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant staff knew everyone as 'Jimmy' which we thought was quite funny. I would say the Nido was more for adults than families with young children as the only entertainment is the pools and a small play area in the Eden.
All in all the holiday was good value for money as we got a last minute cheap deal for a family of 4. We were'nt expecting 4 or 5 star treatment but we would have probably enjoyed our stay more if there had been more entertainment for the children and the rooms were more comfortable and welcoming.

Just come back from Gran Canaria. Where do I start?
I don't think there are enough words to describe how awful I thought the apartments were! It was the roughest place I have ever been to in my whole life.
Big fat topless women drinking pints of beer at 11.00am and screaming/swearing at their kids (not to mention the tattoo's). The staff were rude, and the facilities were appalling.
We were told by our travel rep that this was a nice quiet resort, perfect for a family. It was not like I asked to stay in the cheapest place on the island. At the end of the day we paid 500 pounds each for this holiday (1 week self catering).
THE POOL: five people were in there and it was full!! The smallest pool I have ever seen!! I noticed in the reviews that they are all very positive, I can tell you honestly. I heard loads of complaints while we were there. In fact two families we met just walked right back out again.... and talk about being on top of a cliff!!!
If I wanted a mountain top holiday I would have asked for one!! Never ever again! What a disappointment!!!

Just returned yesterday and all i can say is wow, its the best holiday ive had!Three of us booked to go never having been to gran canaria before and from the start there was no problem.
We were greeted by our rep heidi who was bubbley and helpful then when we arrived at the apartment reception where the reception staff were quick and also helpful.The room was clean having everything we needed we also had a good maid sevice throughout the week.
Then it was on to the bar where we were met by very friendly bar staff who were always up for a laugh and played a good selection of music to keep everyone going.The pool and bar area was clean with enough shade if you wanted it,the food was exellent with good portions and alot to choose from.
We booked on two excursions,the pub crawl and the aquapark.The pub crawl was amazing met loads of people and everyone had a really gud time. The aquapark was fine just chilled out most of the time but there were plenty of rides if you wanted to do the whole lot.
The night life is great with there being the europa center within a few minutes walk but the best had to be down in the commercial center where a taxi ride costs about 4euros.All in all it was a fantastic holiday made even better by the great friends we met whilst round the pool and apartments we will be going back thats for sure-we cant wait!

Fourth year running to the nido. This is the sort of holiday i like no fuss no hastle. in the four years i have been coming to the apartments i have never had a bad time. On returning this year i was greeted by the bar staff as if i was a long lost friend. Just back and booking for next year.
