Oasis D'or: Oasis D'or - Cal A Dors secret!! by Susan Offiler |
| Posted 16 June 2009 about a visit in June 2009 | Overall rating: 9.9 |
Just back from very relaxing weeks stay at Oasis Dor...Thankyou to Mario and his parents for a lovely stay!! this place is such a lovely change from the large commercial hotels that are noisy and all the same.
Here you feel a real personnal touch..Mario justs takes care of everything you need and is really friendly!! Dont be put off by the "Hostel" label tho, we have never stayed in a hostel but this was everything a Hotel has to offer (nothing like our british hostels) except cheaper!!
On some days we actually had the pool to ourselves...
Thankyou once again to all,and all the best to Mario and his wife to be for their wedding in November!!
ps. Rooms only got a 9 as no air con, fine in June but imagine a bit too hot July/Aug - but not complaining!!

Oasis D'or: A little Oasis by Charlotte |
| Posted 18 August 2005 about a visit in July 2005 | Overall rating: 8.0 |
My boyyfriend and I have just returned from Oasis D'or Hostel (yes, it is a hostel) in Cala D'or.
We booked this last minute through Thomson and amazingly there wasnt even a picture of the place in the brochure so we went with fingers crossed. After a frantic day of trying to find a picture of the place, no such luck. It is impossible! The only picture I did eventually find does the place no justice.
Location: Absoulty brilliant, seconds walk from Cala Dors beach Cala Gran, although this does get very busy and there are much nicer beaches around. Still white sands and crytstal waters, so was great. The bars, resturants and marina are literally minutes walk yet there is no loud noise at night, the Oasis really are in a great location,
We were given a standard twin room overlooking the back. It was a fair size, 2 beds, bulit in wardrobe (lockable) dressing table, chair and bathroom, these rooms are very clean. I couldn't fault housekeeping until I realised where all my magazines were disapearing too when i left them on the floor...the communal magazine rack downstairs!!!! cheeky madam!. As we went bed and breakfast we really felt it would be so much better if we could have a fridge or something so we could have our own drinks on the balcony but unfortunately the bedrooms are very basic and not suitable for people that like luxury accomodation.
The bar area is great and even though you have to wait for a while for the owners to stop haveing there marital arguments, the selection is great and cheap. The breakfast was ...how can i put it......crap. This place is quite small and the waitress is a 60 year old woman that doubles up as your housekeepeer!!! You dont get to choose breakfast, its what she decides..when we were there you always got a crusy roll, jam, then it was either egg, or a sausage (yes just the one), or cereal, maybe a bit of bacon but never a full breakfast. It was a shame breakfast was rubbish but then again restaurants are so cheap there you can easily get a full breakfast for under 5 euro. Go to supertramps- its an English restaurant next door but one and is great!
The pool area was the best thing about the Oasis. In 2weeks I remeber sharing it about twice. The great thing about Oasis is because its small, you fell like the place is yours and its very freindly everyone talks to each other. The pool is a good size and there is a baby pool too. Your allowed lilos, balls, whatever you like but expect to see no more than 3 people there at one time and remember I was there in the busiest time of year!! Great..
You have to go to Cala Mondrago it is the most beautiful beach ive seen and is only a couple of euros on a bus.
Cala dor itself is truly a great place and evn though we didnt have a car, beaches and other towns like Cala Ferea are minutes walk away and well worth it!! Any questions please let me know because I know how hard it is finding info on the Oasis!!!! Have a great time you will love it and I will try and get some pictures up!!!
I have reviewed on restaurants etc too so check it out
