We stayed at the Occidental Allegro Playa Dorada in August 2005 and it was one of the best holidays we have ever been on, I travelled with my husband and two children ages 12 & 11.
Previous reviews made us wary but we were pleasantly surprised. The accommodation is good, adequate for our needs and cleaned frequently.
The food was excellent, plenty of choice on the buffet the main restaurant, and 3 a la carte restaurants to choose from the Grill, Mexican and Italian, there was also a Pizzeria.
Drinks measures were generous and took some getting used to. The beach was beautiful and again clean. The entertainment was good and the staff worked very hard to keep everyone happy, they didn't force you to participate in activities if you didn't want to. I would thoroughly recommend two excursions, swimming with dolphins at Ocean World and the Outback Safari.
All in all a wonderful holiday and I'm sure we will return.

A number of reviews recentlynote of lack of cleanliness in rooms, linens etc., also lack of attention from both upper management and service staff at this resort. I would like to hear from vacationers who have stayed at this resort in the last 6 to 8 months and hear their opinions. I am recently widowed and this trip will be an "R&R" for me.

can you tell me what the food was like as i am quite a fussy eater as are my children . is it located as close to the beach as what it says in the brochures, over all was it clean ie, the rooms, the restaraunts, was there regular clean towells and linen, we are going in october and wandered were all the facilities what you were expecting, and was the overall service good, would you go again? thanx

I stayed at this hotel last October, the food is great plenty of choice so i would'nt worry about that. The hotel is on the beach and towels and bed linen are changed every other day. Beach towels are complimentary and the staff are friendly and aim to please. I found the hotel to be clean and it is a good choice for families lots of activities on for children and adults and live entertainment.
