Odessa: Hotel Odessa by Val Brice
Posted 02 January 2003
Family room is excellent for 2 + 2 kids

Breakfast was excellent, but evening meal became a little bit repetitive.

Daytime entertainment (Dennis & crew) was excellent for adults & kids. Evening entertainment was OK only for our 9 year old girl.

Position for beach could not be bettered.

Would definitely visit again

Odessa: Odessa Hotel, Protaras Resort & Nicosia by Luci
Posted 04 July 2002
Came back from Odessa Hotel on 10.06.02. Like previous reviewer, we were also surprised to find that the rooms were carpeted. Nice, clean hotel in the centre of the Protaras "strip", ie on the road between Ayia Napa and Paralimni. Two large single beds positioned together to form one king-size bed, well furnished with TV, air conditioning, hairdryer, both full length and dressing table mirrors, table and two chairs plus chair at dressing table. There is a fridge in the room payable at CYŁ1/day if you want to use it. Bathroom with good shower and toiletries, eg shower gel, shampoo and soap, large mirror. (Funny how I'm mentioning mirrors, hardly use them at home!) Furnished balcony overlooking pool. Large pool area with plenty sun loungers (most padded), small tables and at least one parasol per two loungers. Large grassed area between pool and beach, also with loungers. Food good, entertainment not wonderful. Close to bars, restaurants and resort shops. The hotel is set back from the main road and therefore does not suffer from traffic and people noise.

We found Protaras more expensive than Paphos, although the last time we were in Paphos was in December which may have had a bearing.

Personally, I was not impressed with Protaras as it is a typical custom-made resort and could have been in any Mediterranean country. We didn't bother hiring a car as we've seen most of the island on previous visits and it was the "stay" week after a cruise. However, it was extrememely cheap and convenient to get around by local bus, which is really something for me to say as I hate buses and am not a good traveller. It was CYŁ4pp return to go to Nicosia. You phone the bus company to book and they pick you up outside your hotel. I thought we'd have loads of pick ups enroute, but not so. The bus takes you directly there, parks in a car park and leaves Nicosia at 3pm. There is a large Woolworths there with a 360 degree viewing area on the 11th floor complete with binoculars, although my tiddly pocket-size bincos were more effective.

You can do the same to go to Larnca Market on Sunday morning for CYŁ2 return. However I wouldn't recommend this market to anyone - it's a dump, dreadful and more like a really bad car boot sale! Not worth wasting an hour on, never mind a morning and that was the concensus of the whole bus.

Any specific queries, just ask and I'll answer if I can.

Odessa: Can we party 1 night, and escape the mayhem the next?
22 May 2007 by Rob Gray
I am looking for a nice relaxing holiday, where me and my girlfriend can soak up the sun by the beach/pool, eat well, drink well, and do the occasional partying. My main concern is that the resort is going to be full of groups of lads/girls on drinking holidays.Me and my girlfriend do enjoy partying and the nightlife, but we want to be able to do that for 2 or 3 nights, and escape it the rest.
