| Olu Deniz Travel Guide: Perfect weather, perfect beach resort

Trip was for a family on holiday. Ade Rooney 1 would definitely visit again.
| Olu Deniz day trips | | | Olu Deniz is a great, laid back beachside resort. I've been 6 times (trip number 7 is in 5 weeks- I can't wait!) and each time I've stayed at the Montebello hotel- a relatively basic hotel, but one with excellent staff, spotlessly clean rooms and pools, and a place that feels like home from home. You'll be tempted to spend your whole holiday around the pool or at the lagoon, but there are some unmissable trips- I've done these more than once, and can highly recommend them. A jeep safari is a must (use "Explora"- they are the best)- a whole day exploring the local mountains, which takes in an unusual trout farm, ancient city ruins, mud baths in the Xanthos river, and ends at the idyllic Letoon beach. Saklikent Gorge is a fantastic trip and can be easly reached in an hour or so- hire a car- they're cheap, and the roads are relatively empty- and drive there yourself. The river cruise and mudbath trip at Dalaman is great fun and ends up at a fantastic beach as well, and you must try a day's boat trip- they usually take you to 4 or 5 beauty spots where you can swim in the crystal clear azure waters, and have lunch thrown in. Finally, for anyone that likes fishing, last time I was in Olu I had a day on a boat with an experienced local fishing guide, with lunch, for £15. I cannot recommend Olu Deniz and the surrounding area highly enough. The fact that I'll be returning yet again in July '09 tells you how much I love this place! |
