Don't judge this impressive expensive hotel by the surly, robotic, unwelcoming front-desk staff. Omni Shoreham has comfortable well-serviced rooms, a warm atmosphere, lots of history - but temperamental elevators!
Breakfast staff (like Monika) are superbly attentive ; Bar chief Hassan has a sensitive ear, delivering outstanding service with great patience. Most staff (multi-ethnic : think Eritrea, Korea, Iran, Hungary and more) respond well to guests engaging with them. Neighbourhood pluses include "Open City", a friendly good-value diner / cafe (great coffee) and a very convenient station for the safe, clean and efficient Washington Metro.
