Our latest stay was in September 2005 but we have stayed there nearly every year during the past decade or longer, as we have timeshare there. We have always been delighted with holidays spent there.

In August 2005 the complex, which was formerly called the Montechoro Beach Club, was bought out by Petchey Leisure and it is now called OURA-VIEW BEACH CLUB. The service in our apartment is always good and the reception and bar staff are always very friendly and extremely helpful. The restaurant is good and the hair dressers' (Joaquim Ribeiro) on the complex is to be highly recommended. The pool is very large with separate children's pools.

The complex is situated at the western end of Praia da Oura beach, where there is also a new beach restaurant. The complex has a bus which runs at regular intervals on weekdays to and from Old Albufeira and airport transfers to and from Faro Airport can also be arranged, so it is not essential to have a hire car. The Oura-View Beach Club is built into the cliff, but it is not necessary to walk up the very steep hill which leads from Oura to the beach at Praia da Oura (Cardiac Hill!), because at the complex lifts take you right up to the level ground at the top. Although it is not very far from the Strip, the complex is in no way affected by any adverse noise and it is peaceful and very relaxing there.

More pavement cafes and restaurants can be found just outside the complex's entrance to the beach on a little promenade which also takes you to the Borda d'Agua commercial centre where there are an Ali Super supermarket, a bakers, a paper shop, gift shops and more restaurants. A Marachino supermarket is also to be found opposite the entrance to Praia da Oura beach.

In all it is a very good place to spend a holiday.

Oura-View Beach Club: Is the area hilly?
31 Oct 2007 by Mary Hendry
Oura view sounds a lovely place to stay, and by reading the review I realise there is a lift, but what about the area in general and also the grounds. Are they hilly? I have a slight back problem and find it dificult to walk up hills. Thanks
