Ova Resort: Ova Resort and Hisaranou Review by Gary Kerr |
| Posted 04 August 2006 about a visit in July 2006 | Overall rating: 6.6 |
We visited in July 2006. T
Accommodation
The hotel has basic accommodation, rooms a bit small but are kept clean daily. It is spread over two buildings each one with a pool. One accommodation block has the 'relax' pool which is a swimming pool without any ball games etc the other pool is a bit noisier and busier and has a flume. The latter is closer to the restaurant and the bar if you prefer alcoholic drinks -the quieter pool has only soft drinks. So whilst the advantage for us was a quieter pool it meant a walking up to the other bar or to the restaurant.
Food
Reasonable choice, buffet style with salad stuff and hot stuff. Cakes and tea at 4pm, burgers at 12-1 and at 4-5. Ice cream a bit strange only available for a couple of hours a day!
Restaurant staff work very hard and are friendly. Bar staff at the relax pool too busy on her mobile phone so you end up helping yourself to drinks. Its easier when she wasnt there!
Entertainment
We thought pretty good for a small hotel, Turkish dancing and Turkish nith was great also the break dancing show was amazing. Music at night bit boring rave type!
Resort Area
Must do the Jeep Safari with 'Hamish McTurk', tour operator based in Hisaranou - excellent trip. Loads of other trips are available we did the Turkish Night at Kevasaray which was excellent and great value.
Shopping Monday market in Hisaranou better than the Fethiye market - they do hassle a bit so learn how to say no thank you in Turkish.
Try the Rock Bar in Hisaranou with the funniest bass player Ive seen. They have an open mic night on Mondays and you can get up and sing or play with the band -but you must beable to sing from their repertoire!
Take British money for the market. Cash machines in Hisaranou.
