Ozkaymak Falez Hotel: absolutely fabulous by Sue Hall |
| Posted 20 September 2007 about a visit in September 2007 | Overall rating: 9.9 |
When my husband and I walked into this hotel late at night, we received a very warm welcome from the staff and we were taken aback by the beauty of the decor inside the hotel with the theme being marble and glass. We both felt like we had walked into a palace.
In the morning when we stepped out onto our balcony the view literally took our breath away. We were overlooking the mediterranean sea and the mountains. and all the balconies share this fantastic view My husband and I have travelled on many occasions but we both have to agree that this beats the lot for a lovely place.
The four swimming pools were amongst the best that we've ever seen and after swimming you can enjoy a hot water jacussi. You can also swim at night if you wish as all the pools are floodlit. The hotel also provides outside entertainment overlooking the pools.
The food was absolutely wonderful with such a beautiful menu of hot food, salads, cakes and fresh fruits to suit every ones taste, and the hygiene was spot on. All the waiting staff were clean, helpful and friendly. We had the choice to eat inside or out and were even able to enjoy a barbeque as well as the food on the buffet inside. The outside dining area was so romantic with gentle music and candlelight, and with no mosquitoes or flies bothering us as these annoying insects are sprayed. We could walk just down the road to take a 5 minute journey by the tram to reach the shops, old market town, and the beautiful harbour. We even found it enjoyable to walk around the market without being hassled. because the Turkish people in this area are very friendly and relaxed.
Regular boat trips were available from the harbour, and they too were very enjoyable, or we could just sit and enjoy a drink. A regular shuttle ran from the hotel to its own private beach were cushioned sunbeds and umbrellas were free. This distance could be walked but the weather was a little bit too hot and so the shuttle was a good idea. The beach was a pebble beach and so a pair of waterproof shoes would be advisable. At night the beach came to life with discos and bars, but we were never disturbed by any loud music, and it appeared that there was never any rowdy people about. The hotel also provided exercising facilites and a free turkish bath and sauna. Turkish massage was also available and it was very professional and cheap, and theraeputic.
We would recommend anyone to go to this holiday resort because it was absolutely lovely. One word of advice though and that is do not take travellers cheques because it is almost impossible to cash them in this area of turkey. It was lucky for us that we took English money which could be changed easily to lira or euros, but the hotels and the banks will not touch a travellers cheque. My husband and I were quite amazed that we didnt spend all our money and actually brought most of it home, so it was certainly good value for money.

Ozkaymak Falez Hotel: do security guards stop you from taking food into your room? |
| 02 Sep 2007 by Mia Cher |
i read a recent review of this hotel. they said that they were searched by security guards every time they came back to the hotel & had bottles of water & food taken off them. you had to buy everything in the hotel at much dearer prices. they said that people going full board did not get harrassed in this way.
can anyone tell me if this true or not? >> Answer this question | | | | >> | Answer 1 by Sue Hall (20 Sep)
My husband and I never experienced anything like this and we were both half board. We would walk to the local shop daily and walk into the hotel with bottles of water, crisps, etc. Infact the hotel provided us with 3 bottles of water at no cost to us on our arrival at the hotel. People were even leaving the dining area following breakfast and evening meal with carrier bags full of fruit.
