Definitely

Me and a few of the girls travelled here in September 2007. It was my second trip to Ibiza and decided this time to find a cheap central base in San Antonio. We got exactly what we were after here!

We flew with Monarch and landed very early morning but the reception was still open and (with it being San Antonio) there were also a few clubbers on their way out for the night!! We booked the hotel direct with ibiza spotlight online and got a very reasonable price.

Our room was a small apartment just 2 beds and a small bathroom but served the purpose. There were no other facilities in the room, just a wardrobe, beds, safe in the room which you can rent for your stay from reception and the bathroom.

We stayed on a half board basis but didnt surface for breakfast so couldnt say from experience what that was like but friends that we travelled with said that breakfast was nice enough and buffet style. Dinner was varied, we only stayed for 5 nights but had different choices every night, a different meat, chips, rice etc and desserts. Dinner was served from 8pm.

There is a bar inside that serves snacks throughout the day and are pretty reasonable prices. We would get lunch from there and just stay around the pool in the day. It can get a bit rowdy around the pool when people wander down with hangovers and theres others making a noise! Theres just the one pool with little shallower bits and a jacuzzi style section. I did think the pool could have done with a bit of a clean but was ok to dip in when it was too hot.

The walls in the bedroom were also very thin and every morning from our room we could hear some Spanish news blaring away from next door. At night a security guard would tend to come around and make anyone with any music playing loud to turn it down.

If you have not been to Ibiza before you might be suprised at the nightly routine! People tend to stay in the hotels until around midnight before going to any clubs and you will find that if you do wander into town before midnight that there wont be many people about!!

While we were there one of the girls we were with almost had her handbag snatched by a man on a scooter so just be wary and dont walk about alone.

From the West End it is a bit of a walk but most of it is wide open and on the main road and there are kebab shops etc on the way but there is a short bit to the hotel which is quiet and there are less people about.

In San An itself there are 2 main clubs, Eden and Es Paradis. I have been to Eden a few times now and they have different dj's on every night and that is also where Judgement Sundays with Judge Jules is held, obviously every Sunday! Inside the main clubs is very expensive for drinks and we would tend to drink alcohol before going into them to not spend as much but inside the clubs you are looking at paying approx 17 euros for a vodka red bull (£15 at the time) which personally i wouldnt spend!

Most days except closing party days you would find people on the beach with free wristbands to get you into Eden for free before 2am so thats worth checking out before you end up paying to get it. A lot of the time you can get in for free before a certain time anyways.

From our room we could see Eden so it really isnt that far to go if your planning on staying in San An for the night. The other main clubs (Space, Pacha, Amnesia) are all based outside of San Antonio and you need to catch a bus to get to them which are generally included in ticket prices.

There are plenty of bars and pubs in the West End though and they all tend to stay open til very early. Cafe Mambo or Cafe Del Mar are a must, further up past the west end, there is a strip up there where you can watch the sunset but once again drinks are expensive. The other option is to go to the strip and sit on the beach with your own drinks. It is slightly out of the way but once you find it there are plenty of others down there.

In the west end in the day time there are shops to wander around and plenty of little cafes to eat at.

One bar I would definately recommend would be Bar M, just past the 2 clubs and on the beachfront. They also hold various events there throughout the year and while we were there we saw the Fratellis and the Kaiser Chiefs as part of the Ibiza Rocks season. I have heard though, that most of these events are now held at the new Ibzia Rocks hotel which also looks like a definate place that we might check out next year.

I would say that a weekend or a few nights is enough to do if your planning on going out every night though. I went the year before for a week and ran out of money but we were also staying in the Bay then too which has a few good bars (see review on Klippe) but is out of the way if your planning on visiting the bars and clubs of San An.

Really wanted to go again this year but havent found the time but a weekend away in San Anotnio is definately worth a go!

Maybe

We got transfered to pacific from the rivera in the bay. The rooms are very small & basic with a small balcony with no light on the balcony, the view from the balcony was a terrible state with every1 flinging bottles & rubbish over. There was constant arguments & fighting every night. YES the hotel looks nice from the front or pool area but like a dump at the back & side.

There's no entertainment for those who wish to stay at the hotel in the evening & certainly not enough room in the pool or enough sun loungers for the amount the hotel caters for.

The food was so basic that you felt you were eating the same thing every day & it would be ok if you where a rabbit as it was always salads on the menu. For paying for Half Board i thought it was rediculous, out of the 8 nights we spent at the hotel we had to eat out alot even though we tried to eat the food but at the end we gave up & just eat out.. The breakfast was the same every day & I wasn't impressed with it at all.. I was a second chef for several years in several hotels & put on many a banquets, buffets & catered for all natioalities & very seldom had complaints about the quality of food..

I really feel for the maids as the standard of cleanliness was amazing they where so helpful & respectful to you & your belongings... There wasn't much value for money as it was very expensive to buy drinks at the bar but at that it was cheaper than alot of the bars & clubs in Sant Antonio....

The location was ok as it was in Sant Antonio..
