Visited Madrid about 5 years ago now and stayed in this hotel. We were both really impressed by this hotel. It was of a good general standard - clean and relatively fresh looking (for the money). It also has a lovely inside courtyard that was nice to use for reading at lunchtime to escape the heat.
The main attraction of this hotel is with out a doubt its location. It is right in the centre of the city in the Puerto del sol, but isn't noisy once you are inside. You can easily walk to all of the attractions in the city - we spent the whole week without using any transport, bar that to and from the airport.
The breakfast was very basic, just the usual sweet bread and strong coffee - but it was enough to start the day and the waiting staff were very friendly. The staff at the hotel generally were very helpful and welcoming. The hotel was also very flexible when we requested to extend our stay (there was no hassle about not booking). All in all this hotel is an excellent place to stay if you are on a budget but wish to be central.
On the scores i have marked facilities and dining low as the facilities at the hotel were very limited and the breakfast was very basic, but this was reflected in the price of the room. on the other hand the service was good and the location is amazing!
