Trip was for a couple on holiday. shelley best would definitely visit again.
| My husband and i have just returned from 3 weeks in Thailand, 2 of which were spent in Pattaya.
Pattaya is a very colourful place, which is visited by all sorts of different people for different reasons.
Pattayas beaches are not the best, if you want the golden sandys then you really are better off over in phuket.
There are literally thousands of women and bars, we went to lots of different ones. As a couple i was concerned about the thai women being all over my husband but they weren't , in fact the one we visited the most we found the girls to be really friendly and fun, they seemed to be able to let their hair down a bit with the couples and just have fun, not once did i or my husband feel uncomfortable.
There are a lot of ladyboys in Pattaya, if you can go and see one of their shows, they are brilliant. We went to one which was situated in the row of bars opposite the Caesars Palace hotel on the second road. Have a look, its excellent!! There are also lots of GoGo bars especially around Walking street which are well worth a visit if your not too prudish that is!! Walking Street is generally a lot more expensive with regards to drinking than that of other bars in Pattaya.
The food in Pattaya is really good quality, there is anything and everything you can think of its just splatted around the place. Mcdonalds, subway, burger king, pizza hut and pizza place are all down on beach road. There are also a lot of splatted pub restaurants that serve good English grub, you just got to look around the soi's.
You can shop till your hearts content in Pattaya, there are shops everywhere, selling everything. There are some big supermarkets such as Big C, where my husband brought 2 Lacoste t-shirts for 400 baht, Lacoste shirt 200 baht and 2 timberland shorts 500 baht which altogether is approx £15.00. You can haggle the price with any thai over almost anything, if they give you an initial price offer them half, they will look horrified, but guarantee you will get it for just over that price.
Another thing with shopping is you cant really look at anything without being hounded the second you have picked it up, this applies to anything from clothes, shoes to gifts. I also found that if i was looking at something the thais will come over and watch you looking over their goods, which can get pretty annoying at times.
I found the Thais to be really lovely people who would do anything for you, most of them speak a little English, but they appriciate it if you speak a bit of theirs.
Overall if you have a liberal attitude and are not prudish and definitely not offended by what goes on in Pattaya then you will have an excellent time guaranteed, you will love it.
If you do think you will be offended by the sexual nature of Pattaya then honestly stay away, as you really cant get away from it!!
LADIES BEWARE--- some BAR toilets are not as you would expect, there is no seat, there is no loo roll unless you pay 5 baht for some and there is no chain to flush...... whatever you do dont slip up.......... ENJOY |
