Phoenix Park Inn Resort: Christmas and New Year - great times had by all family by Sue Bollins |

I agree with the comments below the hotel is certainly not 5* but extreemly friendly and the staff here are lovely and made you feel like friends. We had our kids aged 12 and 14 with us and had a lovely time, the food is generally of a very good standard, certainly as good as some of the many restaurants in the Candolim area. You are also off down a small road which keeps you away from the blare of the car horns all day and night!
Only downfall was an attack of Delly Belly, but the waiters advised of where I could get tablets and were generally very sweet about making sure we were ok. Have visited Goa before and not suffered, but these things happen - think it was a dodgy chinese restaurant to be honest! The only other thing was don't leave any money in your room, we left a bit of english loose change in a bag in our room and a few quid went walk about, my own stupid fault to leave temptation. We had most money in safety box but not the few quid change out of my purse.
The Christmas Eve and New Years Eve celebrations were lovely, they transformed the hotel gardens into a wonderful Xmas wonderland and then to a Goan Fishing Village for new year - great fun watching the stage go up across the pool and dancing all night long was great fun.
Would most definately visit again and at this Hotel.
if you come to Goa, opticians are CHEAP, suits and dressmaking is cheap and very good quality - took some old favourtie trousers and got 2 new pairs made exactly the same in different colours to replace my worn out ones!
Also don't book tours with reps - get a price from the taxi guys, much better value and if you want to spend time with the elephants I recommend Godfrey's Indian retreat - he will pick you up and you can stay overnight and have a wonderful time, good food, pool and proper beds plus much more time with the elephants - I fell in love with Rani a 12 year old beauty of an elephant (much better than the Jungle book tour with mud huts, hard beds, cheap curry and dust which we did last time) Call him on 9423055671 when you get there. We were with them on Christmas Day and it's the best Xmas I've ever had. He'll remember my son Philip for learning to climb up the biggest elephant and being so at home up there!

Could not agree with the Derricks report more, we had a great time for two weeks over Xmas and would have stayed for an extra week if accomodation and flights hade been available. Candolim suits us an we will be returning

Phoenix Park Inn Resort: very good by Derrick Hargreaves |
| Posted 19 November 2005 about a visit in February 2005 | Overall rating: 8.3 |
the Phoenix Park is a very well run and well appointed hotel for its class.
it is clean and the staff are very good, especially management.
Rooms are of a very good size and have "proper beds"with regular linen changes.
It is about a 10 min walk to the beach and is very convenient for restaurants in the vicinity. The pool is a shade on the small side but is not overly busy as most visitors use the beach. It has a restaurant on site, "Geoffreys Bar", that is reasonable without being cordon bleu. There is also an outside dining area with specials on an evening. Entertainment , i.e. local artists performing international music etc along with occaisonal Indian folk type shows.
For its classification it is at least as good as the competition and beats most of them.
we would be going back this year but couldn't get a booking when we wanted so will be going to a different hotel.
Definately recommended!

P.S. I have just read the this sites own report and it describes the rooms as being
darkly decorated and old. As I was told this hotel is only about 4 years old I am surprised by that. The rooms we saw were painted in bright yellows and oranges (see publicity photos) and I would not describe it as best suited to budget holidaymakers but as suitable for anyone who does not require 5* accomodation
