| | I stayed for 2 weeks at the Laguna Resort on Phuket. It was very quiet – but that’s the holiday I wanted. I did a few trips around the island and if you want lively – then Patong is the place I must say that Phuket is a lovely island and the weather (I went in February) was 35C – brilliant. It was a bit humid but that’s expected and there were surprisingly few mosquitoes. But if sunning yourself isn’t your thing there is absolutely lots to do on Phuket so you’ll never be bored – from elephant rides to visiting the islands (the James Bond Island trip is essential). The people are so nice and the food is gorgeous and reasonably priced. The only expensive thing is wine. 2 years ago I went to Barbados and I have to say Phuket beats it hands down. It is like having a vacation in a really different culture that has retained its authenticity, but with all the mod cons at hand. A great place – but next time I’ll try staying in Patong and see if I can keep up. |
