| Phuket Review: Ex backpacker island | | Written by Jglassey on 02 Mar 2005 about a trip in Jan 2005.
| Here is some infos update after tsunami.
After this terrible wave people just left the island in a matter of 3 days. Now after 2 months business is going back again. Of course it doesn t look like high season. In Patong everything is almost back to normal. Some hotels are still closed, but shope on front beach are soon all back to business. It s realy the best time to go now because it s not crowded, prices are low and you ll help them to recover.
Look forward to see you in Phuket.
Phuket is changing every year as the business is booming and new constructions as well. Phuket is tending to be a middle/upper class travel destination. Still have a lot of lovely cheap places to eat fresh see food or thai traditional cuisine.
Patong is the place to be for fun. Don't expect to party until late as they have to close at 2 am with new laws.
If you want quiet and luxury, try the north west coast. Most of fine resorts and high end beaches are there. Otherwise south west is quiet, and very nice also.
For shopping you'll find everything at Festival supermarket. Excellent hight quality expat food.
I'm in Phuket every two month so don't he
