| Playa Blanca Review: Relaxing resort | | Written by Richard and Emma on 07 Mar 2005 about a trip in Jan 2005.
| | Our second time in Playa Blanca and it has developed greatly since we were here 5 years ago. we hope they put a stop to the building soon otherwise it will get spoilt. The town centre and harbour areas have retained a lot of their authenticity and the have built the new Rubicon Marina over 1 mile away very tastefully. you can now walk along the nicely built promenade for nearly 5 miles. Eating out is a pleasure with only a small number of fast food joints although we were amazed at the number of chinese restaurants here. There are plenty of bars spread around the resort but those with live music tend to aim at the 30+ market, playing mainly 70's and 80's music. We did not see any of the rowdy drunken Brits that are in the minority but give our country such a bad name which was a blessing. There are 2 sandy beaches here but regrettably the weather was not warm enough to sit on them. avoid the tour operators organised tours as they are expensive and a con. you are far better off hiring a car for a few days seeing this diverse island at your own pace without the crowds that get on and off the coaches. Place to visit the El Golfo area 15 minutes drive away and spectacular scenery. hopefully when we reurn again the weather will be kinder we needed thick coats most evenings. |
