Playa Bonita: booked extra nights, did not want to leave by Andrew Romo |
| Posted 23 July 2007 about a visit in July 2007 | Overall rating: 9.6 |
I was not sure about this Hotel Playa Bonita, and the pictures are not very accurate, niether is the GOOGLE earth immage, which shows this hotel as off the beach and inland.
Infact i was expecting it to be a bit apart form the beach and all other things on its own.
I only booked 3 nights for those reasons.
When i arrived at the reception i saw a bautiful large area and wonderful staff all eager to help me settle in and help me park the car in the private car park indoor or outdoor it was my choice, for a small fee of course.
I heard people say the rooms have sea views yes, but they did not say that the sea views are SPECTACULAR and breathtaking, as this Hotel is at 180 angle to the sea, which means that all rooms have the same excellent super sea view, there are no back rooms here.
I also had a nice bath room very clean and 2 large queen size beds, a huge fan on ceiling, with remote control and several speeds, plus air con.Fone, hiar dryer fridge desk and plenty of wardrobe space and hangers and a safe.
I was allocated a room on the 9th floor which means that the reception is on floor 8, and the restuarant on floor 7 so i could use the stairs, although there are 3 lifts, but they do get busy.
The restuarant has one side which is Glass and looks out to the magnivicent blue of the med and beach below. The buffett style food is up to 4 star standard and plenty of choice is available even for somebody like myself, with a diet and stomach problem unable to eat many foods, i found i had the plenty of choice, such as boiled potatoes and grilled fish or a la plancha, and cooks are avialable at the back who would prepare so many kinds of food on the spot, from sirloing steaks to pan cakes.
As if this was not enough on saturdays the resturarant staff said on our way in, today we have extra choice and we made more of an effort, and there was even more to choose from including extra small cakes for desert, so much infact that i trembled a bit at the choice like a small kid with his first icecream.
Infact i was eager to look forward to the next meal and i was glad to book full board.
After only one day i booked 3 extra nites as i knew i was goin to hate leaving this hotel and have already started arrangements to return in september when the rates and lower.
As for gettin about the town, that was easy,i left my car at the hotel and got the bus, there is also a train nearby and i also got a cab, which to BENALMADENA cost 7 euros.
The hotel had nitely entertainment for the kids which i saw that they realy enjoyed, and later more for the adults.
During the day there are activities such as archery a gym and shooting and more.
At the outdoor pool towels are given to you and the deck chairs are under palm trees and a bar is nearby and there is a jaccuzzy and smaller pool too.
There are 2 public beaches below the hotel too with the most wonderful warm water as the manmade bay keeps any huge waves away.
There is also an indoor pool and jaccuzzy and all these areas are well attended by hotel staff who keep an eye open for safety and so children can be left alone and safe, apart from the fact that they also have a kids club.
Gates keep people from outside the hotel from using the pool area, and acces to this is with your room door card.
There are also security gards on patrol
Dont miss the magic show and Flamenco ballet at the nearby CASINO, which are the best shows in town and details are available at reception.
A wonderful experience for me this little trip and one i want to repeat soon.
I can reccommend this Hotel to anybody.
Do i have anything bad to say,,,,well maybe only that the main lounge could of had more comfortable armchairs, but i am fussy.
Also on sundays the public beach gets crowded, and i could not help wondering if outside people got in to use the hotel pool.
Dont think about it too much this place is super.

Playa Bonita: Playa Bonita by Catherine Carter |

Went to the Playa Bonita in Sept. 2003 This is a really lovely hotel - excellent food - super room and very clean. The rooms have a sea view, T.V. , air conditioning, mini bar, hair dryer and two large beds and also a balcony. The bus stops outside the door with another over the road for going the other way. The train station is just a 7 minute walk up the hill and the trains go every half hour and on time! The pool area is nice and there was plenty of sunbeds and brollies. There is also an indoor pool with sunbeds, crazy golf [small] kids club seemed good and it is right on the beach. The night entertainment is not too brilliant - some nights is was all right but the rest of the time we went down the road to a pub that had live music every night. In the restaurant you can swap dinner at night for a lunch and so stay out for longer without having to come back for dinner. When sitting having a meal it is like being on a cruise liner as it is so near the sea it looks as if you are on a boat. Well worth the money and is worthy of a 4 star.
