Playa Pocillos: Great Holiday by Gruntfuttock |

Just back from the Playa Pocillos Apartments in Lanzarote.
Accommodation was very good and despite reservations about the possible size of a one bedroom apartment I was more than happy when I got there. Maid service was 5 times a week with towels changed regularly. The bar / snack bar on site was good value for money and provided everything from snacks to full breakfasts. Reception staff couldn’t have been more helpful.
The transfer time from the airport was only 15 minutes so as you have already guessed the complex was close to Arrecife airport. Although it was noisy at times after a few days you totally forgot about it.
A five - ten minute walk took you to Matagorda Shopping centre where you had had the usual mix of bars, restaurants and souvenir shops as well as a games arcade. Restaurants included Greek, Irish, Japanese, Chinese. Balti and the proverbial Pizzeria.
Matagorda was however relatively quiet and for four or five euros you could catch a taxi to the more lively resort of Puerto Del Carmen, where you could party all night.
There were a few really good places to eat and drink in Matagorda, probably the best idea would be to visit the (golanzarote) Matagorda website which I only found out about when I was there.
I would however suggest a visit to Kinsales (A lovely Irish restaurant), Santorini’s (a really nice Greek Restaurant) and The Auld Triangle, another fine Irish Bar / Restaurant.
There are two Chinese restaurants in Matagorda, the Slowboat II does a neat take away menu and even throws in a free bottle of wine.
The beaches are a bit rocky in parts, however take a stroll along to the Playa Pocillos Beach and what a difference.
All in all I had a really lovely time in Matagorda and would suggest that it is a great place to use as a base to explore the rest of the island. If you are looking for somewhere that is children orientated then the Playa Pocillos Apartments are for you, the kids will have a ball.
