Playa de Oro: play de soro by Adam Maxwell |
| Posted 30 August 2005 about a visit in July 2005 | Overall rating: 5.0 |
When we arrived at the Playa de Oro we were quite impressed. The staff were friendly but didn't speak much english at all. The rooms weren't too impressive but were very clean and the maid came round every day. the breakfast was absolutely disgusting every morning the breakfast was cold.
Dinner was average but there were some unfamiliar fishy dishses and spanish dishes that weren't very appitising, and the chips were soggy.
At night the entertainment was for spanish only. The Irish and English families had to resort to nearby bars that spoke ENGLISH. The barmen were ignorant to the british.
Overall it was a slight disappointment and I would give the playa de oro 5/10.

This hotel was okay. The staff were friendly enough, didn't eat in the hotel, went down to breakfast one morning, and didn't think much of it, so left again.
As with most hotels, you have to fight for sunbeds, and pool wasn't very big, although they have a lifeguard on the premises.
The hotel was clean enough, as in no strange insects, but although the cleaners come round every day, they hardly touch the floor. We got our bed covers changed twice in the 2 weeks we were there.
Easy enough to get to clubs/pubs. Recommend you go to The Tavern for food, it's just across the road from the hotel and run by a lovely Irish guy, serves food until about 11, sometimes later, have seen the place stay open until 1. Shows UK tv on sky too.
The entertainment in the hotel was rubbish!! We went out every night, to get away from the noise they seem to call music. From the balcony we looked over the Venecia Park Hotel, and the entertainment there, seemed so much better, and they had more sunbeds/bigger pool.
