Over several years my wife and I have been to this Hotel 5 times. Each time the hotel has made some improvement one way and another, so that now it is one the best small hotels we know. The new restuarant on the main ground floor is in a much better room than the old one, a floor or so below the reception area. Breaklfast is still served down there. It is the usual fairly basic breakfast, but there is a good selection of various items, and extras will be provided at a small cost. The new restuarant has a good selection on it's fixed menu (@12 euros p p) with a good a la carte menu at extra cost. The house vinos de la casa are very drinkable, but there is also a good list of better wines. All the staff are helpful and friendly, although reception doesn't aways have sufficient cash in hand. However there a multitude of cash points within 100 - 300 metres of the hotel, so there is no problem in getting extra money.
Our room was looking over the little plaza, so we had a good view of all that went on. An added bonus was a selection of mini marathons on the Sunday.

Car driving is difficult in Nerja as the streets in the centre are very narrow and partially pedestrianised. The Hotel has an underground carpark, but gaining access is quite an adventure...
Will we go there again? yes, but not for a year or two. As we do not usually go back to Hotel even if it we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay - our 5 visits so far to the HotelPlaza Cavana says it all
