I have serious concerns about the in-room babysitting and I would never leave my children again in the hotel room with a sole charge baby sitter unless you thought leaving a 3 year old and a 9 month old being left asleep unsupervised with the front door unlocked because the baby sitter was double booked by reception!!! Rather than the front desk take this problem and aim to resolve the issue for the guests they just abandoned the children. More shocking was the fact that management didnt seem to think this was their issue to address or resolve.
When we asked to speak with the manager we were told the manager was too busy to deal with such a serious customer complaint. Unfortunetly in a time where children do get abducted from hotels I am concerned that this hotel maybe targetted by such people if they have such a lax approach to the safety of your children. If you do decide to stay at this hotel, do not let your children out of your sight and NEVER leave them with a member of the staff of the hotel as they have breached a basic trust that any parents gives when you leave your babies with a stranger.
This is a matter of safety and I am not normally a nervous mother as I have always has wonderful child minders in all the hotels of the world we have stayed in with my children, but this is a first and frankly I am stunned that a normal human would think it not unreasonable that a 3yo and 9mo are too precious and must be kept safe. I entrusted this hotel with my two precious babies and they were abandoned as an inconvenience.
The hotels facilities were of an adequate standard and the location for a bike holiday was good. The on-site bike shop was below average for customer service, but the quality of the bikes to rent was good. The food was of a good standard but a little repetitive after a few days. The staff in the restaurants were lovely and very helpful. Housekeeping were friendly and did a good job however the rooms were often not made until midafternoon. Wireless internet is intermittant and kept dropping out. They do not cater at all for children between the ages of 0-12 months so take your own food.
We were part of a group booking of approx. 60 people of which about 32 people suffered a stomach complaint on the exact same evening. Of course the hotel denied it was the buffet and didn't investigate.
In summary, the hotel is fine but it would have to be the worst customer service I have seen in many years for management, front desk and office staff. I am deeply concerned about their lack of concern about the childcare incident and I dearly hope that there is not a nasty person watching this hotel closely and just waiting for a child to be left unattended again.
