The Poseidon Hotel was excellently located at only ten yards from the beach. The swimming pool was very spacious and overlooked the beach.
The resort and hotel had a very relaxed atmosphere and low key.
The accommodation was basic, but we had a fridge in our room whilst on a B&B basis. The room did get warm and there was no air conditioning available, there was a fan provided in the room.
The breakfast was limited, bread, jam and almond cake with coffee and tea.
The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The rooms were cleaned everyother day. There was no bar at the hotel, however it was quite acceptable to go to the local bakery and supermarket for supplies and return to the pool side to eat.
The resort had a plentiful supply of bars and restaurants.
We went on a boat trip around the island, which included a stop off at the volcanoes. Only attempt the walk if you are feeling fit! The boat then went on to Oia. My advice is no matter how much they smell, take the donkey up to Oia. If you arrive in the middle of the day the heat is intense and can be overbearing, alot of the people who walked with us suffered from the sun and really struggled to reach the top! The highlight of our holiday was watching the Sunset from Oia. Its a an absolute must for anyone visiting the island. There are also great designer jewellery shops in this area so try to keep some time to visit them, alot of what for sale is unique.
Don't expect a mad holiday! Do expect to chill out! Not best suited to families with small children!
Santorini is an expensive greek island to visit but we think it was well worth the money. We would certainly like to return!
