| Prague Travel Guide: Prague - More modern than you would think
| | Written by Brian McPake on 13 Nov 2006 about a trip in Nov 2006. Trip was for a couple on holiday. Brian McPake would maybe visit again.
| Prague shopping | 8.0 | | Modern day Prague offers everything in shopping that you would find in London, Glasgow or Paris. Shopping malls have sprung up around the city and provide everything you could ever want from Tesco to Next to Zara with music shops and cafes too. Most things however are priced accordingly and there are not many bargains to be found. |
Prague nightlife | 7.0 | | Mainly a restaurant based nightlife ie like Paris rather than Brussels although there are pubs to be found and, of course, the inevitable clubs etc |
Prague restaurants | 8.0 | | Local dish Goulash is served everywhere and is the cheapest thing ona alot of menus comprising of a plain tasting stew with breaded dumplings. Steaks etc are to be found also and price of an average meal for two would be around 800 Koruna (about twenty pounds) including a drink or two. |
Prague attractions | 9.0 | | Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square (New Town), Astronomical clock, Castle, Charles Bridge, a variety of markets. Some of the architecture is stunning. |
Prague day trips | | | Boat trips are usually good value and include a meal and jazz music traditionally |
Getting to Prague | 7.0 | | By Plane to Ruzyne Airport with Flyglobespan from Glasgow |
Getting around Prague | Buy a 7 day pass at the airport and all modes of transport are at your disposal ie trams , Metro and buses. The transport system (DP) runs like clockwork and is very impressive compared to GB.
There are 3 metro lines taking you almost anywhere in Greater Prague very easily - fExcellent!!! |
When to visit Prague | | Gets very cold in January February but other than that, Prague is a year round destination |
