| Prague Review: Not as cheap as they make out..... | | Written by Nick Blake on 15 Nov 2005 about a trip in Nov 2005. Trip was for a couple on short break. Nick Blake would maybe visit again.
| I recently visited Prague on a short break with my girlfriend. I was led to think from friends that it was amazingly cheap - it isn't. In 4 days we spent over £100 a day (admitedly we had a couple of fantastic meals). I think the people of Prague are now aware of the strength of the pound. I spoke to several other brits who felt the same.
There is though plenty to walk around and see and i'd thoroughly recommend the Kampa Park restaurant (great spot next to the Charles Bridge). Clothes in recognisable stores are more expensive than here so don't bother shopping.
Another surprise was the lack of "normal" bars open after 11. Fine if you're on a stag do but for a romantic break stay clear of Wenceslas sqaure!!
Well worth a short visit but probably only once. |
