| We have just arrived back from Protarus having just had an excellent holiday for the second year running. Staying both occasions at the Maricosta Apartments which are situated just outside Protarus itself in a smaller resort called Penera.
Penera hosts several small coves/beaches which are easilly accessed on foot and also a small fishing harbour.
The nightlife though not as extreme as Protarus is still bustling and is geared I would say to the over thirtys. Eating out is good value for money where a meal for two people including wine can be as little as £15.00. Traditional Greek dishes are always on the menu and are excellent value for money, but if you prefer your more English menu you will not be disappointed. Rest assured you will not be able to try out all the restaurants in a two week stay, so you can see there is a large choice.
Getting out and about to neighbouring towns like Paralimni, Protarus and Ayia Napa is very easy and I would recommend the bus service, where a fare of 70 cents will take you to any of them. Paralimni 15 mins, Protarus 10 mins, Ayia Napa 40 mins.
Hiring a car is a must and just like driving in the UK. Visit the Troodos Mountains its well worth the effort with outstanding views as far as the eye can see.
Finally just to mention that the Maricosta Apartments are now only available by booking direct via their website. I would totally recommend them for your holiday in Pernera if you like that personal touch. Maria is an excellent cook and always gives you little treats to accompany your meals, and her husband Costa is always at hand to give you his vast knowledge of the island.
