Safari Park Aparthotel from inside complex

view from boat - Safari Park is to right of Vista Badia

This was our second year in Sa Coma resort - last May we stayed at Palmeras Playa but we chose the Safari Park Aparthotel this time as it was cheaper by £200.

Transfer to the hotel took about one hour by coach and the reception area was very impressive. As we went to the room we could smell a rather unpleasant odour in the corridors and from the balcony - this did come and go during the week and I could never pinpoint the source. The apartment was large with two full size sofa beds and a double bedroom - unfortunately the beds were rock hard and I hardly slept. Our balcony was huge and overlooked the dining room roof, the hotel is so vast you would be lucky to get a pleasant view of the swimming pools, some rooms even overlook the car park! The air conditioning was feeble in the living area but the bedroom had a separate control which kept it nice and cool There was a microwave and kettle in the kitchen but you are clearly not expected to cater for yourself as the kitchen area was sparse. There was no ice cube tray or water jug to make cold drinks.

My two children really enjoyed the holiday. There are several swimming pools both indoor and outdoor (one outdoor is covered). We managed to get the indoor pool to ourselves for half an hour before it closed at 8.00 pm. The minigolf is excellent with lovely surroundings and it is free, you just need to get a voucher from the reception desk. Paradis Park is a free playground for children (Protur hotel guests only) complete with water slide, coin operated cars and trampolines. Guests can also hire bicycles free of charge with a 10 euro deposit.

There was maid service on every day apart from Tuesdays and Saturdays. The room was kept clean, beds made and bins emptied.

The Safari Park is in a complex with other Protur Hotels such as Badia Park, Sa Coma Playa and Vista Badia. It is in a busier side of Sa Coma, near to the shopping area and about 500 m from the beach. In some ways I preferred the Palmeras Playa which was the other side of Sa Coma in a quieter location close to the beach.

I had next year's brochure from Portland Holidays and the Safari Park aparthotel is going to be all inclusive. I'm not really surprised as it is set up for this - as said before the kitchen area was very sparse. I would personally not choose to go on an all inclusive basis.

We tried several restaurants this time as our favourite from last year (The White Lion) was closed for refurbishment. We did prefer the Royal Oak as it had British staff and a better choice of menu. The Kinds Head and Britannia were exactly the same menu and the staff did not speak such good English.

We particularly enjoyed the boat trip by catamaran to Cala Bona, Cala Millor and Porto Cristo. The Caves of Drach in Porto Cristo are spectacular but we did not enjoy the 'show' at the end as we were crammed in like sardines - next time we would go during lunch time when you are allowed to take your time. It was annoying that photos were not permitted in the caves as buying them is never the same as taking them yourself. We also went on a Toscano tours Grand Island Tour which was a bit too much for the children. We hated Palma as we did not feel safe after being accosted by living statues on the cathedral steps. The trip included the old train to Soller and a boat trip to La Colabra, then through the mountains back to the resort - spectacular!! These trips never include toilet breaks and you spend a lot of time on the coach. My children felt there was not enough time on the train and too much time on the boat and coach. They did like the mountain pass which is not for the faint hearted, the coach driver was extremely experienced but we still scraped by a few trees when we met a coach coming the other way.

I would certainly return to Sa Coma again but possibly the Vista Badia or Palmeras Playa would be my choice as I believe they are still self catering and are smaller hotels.

The Safari Hotel is a wonderful hotel for families of all ages and we would reccomend it to anyone looking for a family holiday.

The hotel is situated in Sa Coma, I friendly town in a good location. The hotel is only 600m from the beach and just around the corner from shops and a supermarket.

Safari Apartments has great facilities that will will bring fun for all the families. There is a pool table, table tennis, multi-purpose sports pitch, playground and a 54 hole mini-golf course at the back of the hotel which will provide hours of fun. There are also several swimming pools and 2 small kids pools for more fun. Inside the hotel there are 2 louges and 2 satelite T.V's and a gym. If you are looking to relax and sunbath there is a section of sunbeds away from the pool.

The rooms are kept clean by friendly maids 5 times per weak. Inside the rooms are 2 twin beds and 2 sofa beds. The Kitchen has all the features you would expect including a microwave and toaster. There is aslo a hairdryer and a safty box.

At night there is plenty of entertainment from live music to quiz shows to other forms of laughter for the kids.

Overall this hotel is one of the best we have ever been to. It offers fun for the kids but relaxation if you want it

My family and stayed at the Safari at the begining of August. Hotel spotless.Situated in main area. Nice accomadation, maid could have been better, had to ask for a toaster and didnt realise to the end of the holiday that we should have had a microwave. Take coathangers with you as only about 8 fixed coathanger between 4 of us. Large Beautiful complex, not many british people, mainly german and dutch.I did find that the bar staff on the safari had difficulty understanding us but had no problems with the germans. We ate mainly off the complex and never had one bad meal. Beach about 5 mins away across a dirt track or 15 mins if you walk along the main road. Very nice beach with good waves. Not a lot to do in Sa coma but not far from callor millor and puerto christo for days out. Get the bus yourself to caves of drach. Saved a lot of money by not going through the reps. I thought Sa coma may be a bit too quiet for my two teenage sons but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves mixing with the dutch and entertainment staff and even found a couple of british friends. You wont be disappointed with the Safari complex

front door of safari park hotel

pool view from balcony

I visited Sa Coma for a weekend in June.On arriving at our hotel we were pleasanly surprised at the outside of hotel looking quite a modern and clean building. On opening the front door you are met with a spotlessly clean foyer in a cooly kept temperature. Our room was on the same level as the reception, therefore we didn't have to negotiate any stairs or lifts. Our room was spotless and had air conditioning along with a fridge, double bed,tv and a well kept bathroom. On opening the balcony doors it was like stepping into a tardis, the place is huge and has a great big pool.

We were self catering and eat out during our short stay.We had a chinese one evening, which consisted of soup and a main meal for about 7 euros. We also visited another place which was a small eaterie with friendly staff and good food.

The beach at Sa Coma is beautiful, with a very clean white sand.We had no trouble on finding a pitch at the beach.

Sa Coma is quite a quiet resort so if your looking for a upbeat holiday resort this is not the place for you. There seemed to be a lot of families as opposed to couples at this resort. There is also a lot of German tourists at this resort, who in my opinion were curtious and friendly.

I have just returned from 2 weeks of relaxation at the Safari Apartments. I would return here if I was going to go back to Sa Coma as I thought the location was just right. It was about a 15 minute walk to the beach and was away from the main area of restaurants, bars and shops.
The rooms are lovely and spacious and the air conditioning was heaven as it was very hot while we were there! We were lucky enough to have a room that looked over the pool but if you had one that looked over the other side of the apartments, I'm not sure if it would have been as nice.
I can't say that we saw any of the entertainment that was put on in the evenings so I can not comment on this. There was entertainment for the children during the day which seemed very popular.
My only real downside to the apartments was having to listen to the Germans all the time. They were very ignorant and alot of them couldn't care less what their children were doing in the pool. It seemed there was an accident waiting to happen. But of course it probably isn't like this all the time, this is just my view of my time there.
The beach was lovely and for 2 sun-beds and an umbrella it was 12 euros 50. Sea was lovely and warm as well.
The bars and restaurants that we ate and drank in were very good. I would reccomend Salvators (which is just down from the apartments) and must say that you definately get value for money. Juan's Steak House was another good place to eat.
Sa Coma is very relaxed and a fantastic place for young and old. Not alot of noisy nightlife, which I was for one was pleased with.

Protur Safari Park: la reserva
29 Jul 2009 by Lisa Marie
can anybody tell me how much the mini water park costs and if i am living in cala millor can i use it or is it just for people staying in protur hotels?
>> Answer this question

>>Answer 1 by Tracey Burns (11 Jan)

The Paradis Park is free and suitable for up to 10 years. It has a lovely paddling pool with a water slide in the middle. It is supposed to be for Protur guests but no-one ever asked for proof. La Reserva is the larger water park and the charge varies depending on whether you are All Inclusive, Half Board or Self-Catering. You have to book it at the Club House and they ask for your room number and Hotel so I guess only for Protur residents.

Protur Safari Park: Can you use all the facilities in the sa coma resort
08 Apr 2008 by Michelle Paddey
I am wanting to book a holiday for my family in the safari apartments. I was wondering if you could wander around the whole complex and enjoy the other facilites such as pools, sports etc.
>> Answer this question

>>Answer 1 by Tracey Burns (03 Oct)

You can use the 3 minigolf courses free with vouchers from reception. There is the Paradis Park for younger children which all Protur customers can use. Sports and bicycles are available from the clubhouse - some you pay for. The Safari has numerous pool of its own. La Reserva water park is free for all inclusive guests but charged for self catering.
