Psalidi Review: Psalidi August 2003

No matter what the travel brochures say, there is no sandy beach in Psalidi. To say there were some sand and shingle beaches would also be stretching the truth. An honest description would be rocky or stony. Having said that, if you are not looking for a beach holiday then this could be the place for you.

Psalidi is best described as a long thin area bordering the coast road that runs out of Kos Town past the marina towards the East. There are several shops, supermarkets (Jimmys being the largest and probably best stocked), tavernas and restaurants, hotels and apartment blocks along the route. Some looking more appealing than others. We stayed in the Denise Apartments about 50m from bus stop 10.

Buses run about every 15 mins to and from the town. The last bus from Kos Town is at midnight and tends to be very packed.

There is a water park at Cape Psalidi that is worth a visit. It has about 6 water slides, a lazy river and a huge open lido which incorporates various other slides and rides and games. Get off the bus at stop 11A and be prepared for a 20-30 minute stroll along the coast road or of course get a taxi!

Psalidi is a quiter area than Kos Town but close enough to Kos Town if you want to party through the night or to sample the delights that the Town has to offer.

Shame about the beach, otherwise an okay sort of place.
