My wife and I had our wedding reception here, and I will always remember the look on my wife's face after the reception was over. This hotel is a small proprerty having I believe only 53 or so rooms. The proprty was originally a bull ring, I believe it was the first bullring built in Latin America. After a century or so a larger ring was built across town, and this place went into a steep decline. There is very interesting story of the rehabilitation of this structure. I Believe it has been ranked as one of the most beautiful hotels in the world by some architectural magazine. The ring it self has been covered in tile and is surrounded by bushes. The walk ways around the ring have been covered in large Spanish tiles and enclosed in glass. The bull pens have been turned into the lounge, quite a treat, always a livly crowd, usually a live band 3 or 4 night a week. The rooms are actually a completely new addition with all of the rooms meeting or exceeding the usual Quinta Real standards, comparable to Four Seasons standards. The Presidential Suite is three bedrooms with a beautiful balcony over looking the bull ring. It was the old Governors box. The lobby hugs one end of the bull ring, while the restuarant hugs four different levels of the opposite side. Overall this is an elegant, gracious, georgous, inviting, luxurious, wonderful find, that most americans would never expect. You can not miss the hotel as the last standing remnants of Spanish aqueducts loom over head at the entrance to the hotel. This place is full of wonderful, georgous photo opportunities, just look at the walls in my home.
