A perfect hotel in every way. As said earlier, spacious public areas, shops exist within the complex and across the road there is a large shopping centre (mostly shoes however!) Macdonalds at the top as well.
The sherlock holmes pub, the garden court and the chinese restaurant are by far the best places to be. In the garden court you can smoke sheesha and have coffee and there is no hassle for how long you stay there.
I sat most evenings in the main lobby simply watching life go by. The sofas are extremely comfortable!
We had a corner room on the 14th floor, it looked out over the cairo version of spaghetti junction (which is amazing in itself!) You could again watch it for hours seeing how the cars do not hit each other or people get ran over!
There are two banks, a newsagents, souvenior shop, etc. Security is quite tight, but it is in our interests that it is such, so go with it.
Check your bill before leaving however and ask for confirmation if anything looks wrong. The speed at which the people enter the information can sometimes mean it is wrong.
The buffet style restaurant I would suggest is one to avoid. For what it is, it is not worth the price. However the breakfast options are the best I have ever seen in any hotel.
The museum is only across the road (but it might take you half an hour to get there with the traffic!)
If you are going to Cairo, this is the hotel you NEED to be at. It will seriously help you to unwind after a hectic day.
