| Riga Review: Fantastic City | | Written by Debs25 on 26 Oct 2005 about a trip in Sep 2005.
| | I visited Riga for a short break, flying with Ryanair. The people were very friendly, and most can speak some English. We stayed at the Hotel Anda which is on the opposite side of the river to the main attractions, but only a 10 minute bus ride away. Hotel was clean and suitable for what we needed for a couple of nights. There are loads of things to see in Riga, but a lot of the main attractions are closed from Sunday to Tuesday, especially the museums. You have to go to the viewing platform of St Peters Church just for the amazing views of the city. You can do the same from the Hotel Reval as well, which is a little bit further away. Food and drink is cheap, but clothes are about the same as in the UK. There are loads of shops, and its great for nik naks and souvenirs. It was cold when we went, but there are so many places to visit we hardly noticed. I would definitely recommend a short break here - it's totally different to anywhere I've ever been and I loved it. |
