We had heard some pretty bad reports about this hotel, but to tell you the truth most were unfounded. Yes the food isn't red hot, but there were loads of choices for breakfast and evening meal. so if you couldn't find something that you fancied then you would have to be really fussy. The wine at dinner was excellent, especially at £4 bottle.
The rooms were basic, clean, and warm. A word of warning we overlooked the main street, the music went onto til 4-5am everyday, so very noisy. The hotel had everything, shops, chemist, doctors, swimming pool, night club, games room, painting room and all very well run. Saw no evidence of prositutes, saw a couple of beggars they soon went away when you said no.
The nursery slopes are directly outside the hotel as is the ski shop which is fine if you are a beginner, but we had to walk to the gondola everyday down a street that at the beginning of the week was very icy. Took about 5-10 mins then a further 35-45 min wait to get on the gondola. The gondola takes about 25mins to get to top where you have a difficult climb down to the slopes, all with your skis on your shoulder. The blue run is really nice, but it got quite icy towards end of the week. Did abit of a red run (some of their reds are bordering on blacks).
My only gripe, is when ther gondola was shut (one and half days) you are very limited, especially when it hadn't snowed, most of the nice runs were closed because of the lack of snow, making the couple of red ones left very steep and icy. On ther whole good nightlife, reasonable skiing , and cheap.
