Rodeway Inn International: Good Location but very noisy by Suzie Maitland 1

Stayed at the Rodeway over Thanksgiving 2004.

It's in walkable distance of universal studios (about 10 mins) but the americans think you very odd if you want to walk. The hotel does provide a shuttle bus to universal studios and sea world which is free and reliable or you can use the i-ride shuttle which runs up and down international drive about every 15 minutes. The hotel was supposed to provide transport to disney but perhaps as it was out of season this service no longer ran, instead we had to pay £9.00 return coach transfer with virgin holidays every time we wanted to go to disney which isnt bad considering its 20 mins away but it was meant to have been provided.

The hotel is opposite wet and wild and we had a room which looked onto wet and wild and universal studios, thought this was great until we discovered the windows did not fit properly (bits of wood filling in gaps, would have been in panic mode had there been hurricane) and the traffic noise from the highway and international drive filtered through at 6am (no need for wake up calls here)

The japanese steakhouse at the hotel was brilliant, best place we ate all week and there is a ponderosa steakhouse just over the road where you can get an all you can eat breakfast buffet for about £2.00 and dinner from £8.00 nothing spectacular but if you have overspent on designer clothing then it does the trick.

The hotel was kept spotless and even had it's christmas decorations up by the time we left - There is a lady in the lobby who sells universal studio's and seaworld tickets - they are good value for money and cheaper than buying them in the u.k. she gave us a card giving us 20% of all merchandise and some food outlets at universal studios which we used quite a bit.

To sum up it's a good basic hotel in a great location but it can be a bit noisy with road traffic. Going back for july 4th 2006 but staying at a disney hotel this time.

Also virgin reps can only really be bothered with you when you spending money with them, at all other times it felt like a hassle - the attraction tickets are a good bit cheaper at the gates than what they charging (the universal 5 park ticket by about £20.00)

Stayed here for 2 consecutive years and would stay again! Excellent location opposite Wet'n'Wild and 5mins from Universal Studios. Excellent Bar!! Rooms are clean, with a fridge which really came in handy for the beers!! Nice pool, friendly staff and one of the cheapest hotels in the area. They also run a free shuttle bus to Universal and Sea World.
Would definately recommend this hotel to anyone!
