Right on the beach. Idyllic. Staff fantastic, friendly and very helpful.
Here's a tip, treat the staf with a little respect and civility and they will look after you. A couple of dollars tip every now and then , they really appreciate it.
There was always room on the beach or beside one of the pools, we never had a problem getting a sun bed. The "German towel on the bed syndrome" does not exist.
The food in the buffet restaurants was fine as it was in the speciality restaurants. We never had a problem finding something to our liking. You might consider buying an insulated mug to ensure your drinks stay cold. Apart from in the restaurants at meal times all drinks at the bars are served in little plastic cups which dont keep the drink cool.
There is an ATM in Bucarias about a 25 min walk away. Don't be put off by the scare mongering bureau de changes in UK saying banks are charging extortionate rates for cash abroad. It cost me less to use the ATM in Mexico than it would if I had changed cash in the UK!
Rooms were clean and thankfully air conditioned. The humidity in Bucarias is stunning. At the end of the day it was so nice to get to the room and cool off.
If you fly with First Choice, seriously consider upgrading to Premier Class - it is worth every penny.

going there in a few weeks. the hotel is sold out. worried about room at the pools -- will there be a problem?
also, on people's photos, see a lot of lizards around..... not sure about that.
heard the food was good.
are the rooms nice? some reviews said need updated?
how long of a ride from Royal DeCameron into downtown Puerto Vallarta?
