Sa Mirada: Sa Mirada, My personnel review by Peter Love |
| Posted 08 July 2007 about a visit in June 2007 | Overall rating: 9.4 |
Have just returned from Sa Mirada and found it good value for money,as you get a lot for your money.
Rooms had regular service with room clean and linen changes twice a week, and had a good supply of kitchen cutlery and crockery as well as a fridge/freezer and kettle etc. Beds were very comfortable.
Dining area was very clean and waiter service excellent. swimming pool was very clean and excellent to swim in and sunbathe. Reception staff were the best i have ever had, nothing was too much trouble for them and they worked very long hours.
The Sa Mirada has a good location with bars and supermarkets nearby and is close to beach and all other amenieties.

Sa Mirada: Great family holdiay but not without a few problems by Geraldine Daisley |
| Posted 29 July 2006 about a visit in July 2006 | Overall rating: 9.1 |
We arrived at 11.30pm and were shown to our apartment by a member of the restaurant staff. The accommodation was clean and more than adequate for our needs. The food at the snack bar was basic english fare which was okay for the kids during the day. The restaurant is beautiful with air conditioning which makes a big difference and goes along way to helping you enjoy your meal. The food was great too try the Sea Bass, or the Hake Menorcan style - cant be beaten.
There was entertainment every night we were there albeit we went to a different establishment every night. From the Temptations at the Austraila bar to Abba at Isla Pariso and Elvis at Sa Mirada. The Irish Bar leaves a lot to be desired but its more to do with a lack of effort on their part to enterain. And apart from the Irish Bar everything was over by 12.00pm so not too late for the children.
The draw back with the Sa Mirada Apartments was the ant problems. Our second day there we had an infestation of them and they were all over the beds which was not very nice. Although the maid was sent over straight away and the beds were stripped and changed I spent every morning cleaning the apartment and spraying ant killer around the windows and doors. When I didnt spray the ants came back. The ant problem was also visible at the counter in the snack bar they were crawling all over the sauce bottles. I feel that more effort could be made to combat the ant problem but they seem to have a laid back approach to the problem as though they have given up fighting a losing battle.
The only other drawback is the policy of having to vacate your room before 10.00am. This is a nightmare especially if you have a late flight which we did. Our flight did not go out until 11.30pm that night and though there was a place for storing suitcases and a shower room was availalble I felt their attitude was one of "couldnt care less about you now". The shower room appeared to be a cupboard which had been converted, it was like a hot house and it was crawling with ants and full of cobwebs. I even got an electric shock when I tried to unplug my hairdryer. Not safe at all. I did complain at reception about the state of the room and whilst she apologised I noted that she gave out the key to the next people on the list without sending in a maid to clean up after us.
My advice to anyone with a late return flight is to book the room for the extra day it would only cost about €35 but well worth it.
These are the only two problems we had but I feel I would like to be reassured that these would be remedied before I would revisit.
All in all we had a great two weeks and Menorca is the picture post card holiday resort. Ideal for families and yes we would recommend Sa Mirada and the Island itself.

Can't fault it at all.Weather was wonderful. Food excellent. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Accomodation basic but spotlessly clean.
Thomson kids reps absolutely fantastic - worked really hard to make sure everyone had a good time. Entertainment was excellent - Flamenco dances and Lord of the Dance were the highlight. Thoroughly enjoyable visit.
