San Antonio Review: Alright if you want sun, sea, sand, beer.

The first thing that you imagine when someone mentions 'San Antonio' is bars, nightclubs, raves, binge drinking and a place for kids aged 15-20. Not so, I am getting on in years and found the place quite the opposite, but then again I didn't go until very late in the season when most of the all-night ravers had gone home. There clearly is a lot of this going on during peak season but not in October.

It is a resort which is now well spread out around the large bay but access to the main areas can be reached by bus, taxi or the more pleasant water taxis that all converge on the centre at the same cost -(1.9 euros- £1.35p approx each).

Overall it is what you would expect from a Spanish resort with lots of large hotels and apartments, English, welsh, Scottish, Yorkshire, etc, etc, pubs, and the usual multitude of tacky shops for the tourist. The prices are no longer as cheap as they used to be with most things priced about the same as the UK or often more expensive with the exception of cigarettes.

There is more to Ibiza including the historical castle and cathedral in Ibiza town and numerous small intimate, picturesque beaches, every one accessible within an hour by car and usually less.

There are two 'hippy style markets' but we visited only one which was quite large and worth a visit to see some more tacky wares when you get bored with lying around the pool.

Alright if you want sun, sea, sand, beer and you smoke a lot.

Very good value
I noticed that the last review was sept 2003. I suspect that the hotel has had a refurbishment since then and is even better that jill states. We stayed here on an 'allocated on arrival' half...
