| San Francisco Review: I left my heart in..... | | Written by Monk-San on 05 Apr 2005 about a trip in Jun 1998.
| Mark Twain once said that the coldest summer he ever spent was summer in San Francisco. It certainly can get a bit parky - and windy. Loads of great stuff to do, so well worth the purchase of a light jacket.!
Watch out for the electrical goods retailers - know what you're buying and make sure that you know what you should be paying - then you'll avoid getting less of a bargain than you thought....
The Golden Gate Bridge was fun to drive over and we did a triangular route over the 3 main bridges. Lombard Street is a must do, as is Alcatraz of course. Try doing a bay/under the bridge tour on one of the smaller boats - more personal and much more fun bouncing up and down in the chop. Visit the Embarcadero Center and see the sealions on Pier 39, visit the WW2 submarine USS Pampolito, go to Cobbs Comedy club, ride the trams (btw they call them trolleys - they don't seem to know what trams are). If driving do the 17 mile drive - it's quite stunning. San Fran had a lot to see and do - great fun |
