Sands Beach Villas: Worried owner by Susan Jones |
| Posted 29 May 2009 about a visit in December 2008 | Overall rating: 9.1 |
I am really concerned having read the latest review as I do own one of the apartments at Sands Beach. You may find that if you book direct through the resort that the apartment you are allocated has not been refurbished to the high standard that it should have been. You should always complain to reception and insist on being moved. We as owners pay over 300 euros a month each for the resort to be kept clean & tidy and for the upkeep of the general areas, and when you look at how many apartments there are, this is a serious amount of money being thrown at the resort.
So, look at renting the apartment through a UK owner (owners direct website) and you should not go wrong. I am really sorry for anyone not having a good time there as it is a really fantastic resort and it spoils it if the apartments are not right.
Soul in the Sun do visit there in November & if you check out their website you will see how they ensure they have a good time whilst they are there!

Sands Beach Villas: Avoid this place, and do believe the poor reviews by Philip Derrick |
| Posted 28 April 2009 about a visit in April 2009 | Overall rating: 2.0 |
On arrival all appeared OK until you scratch the surface. The understaffed reception area caused delays in checking in. Phone calls to reception were given preference over whatever is happening at the desk, regardless of the length of the queues waiting to check in etc. Queues were very long most days. The clues to state of the place are in reception - dirty stained rugs, dirty and damaged soft furnishings, but we missed these on arrival
The first accommodation allocated to us bared no resemblence to the brochure picture. It was grubby, shabby and very tired. The bedding was damaged and worn, pillow cases were too small for the tatty pillows, the bath was rusty, paintwork was damaged and dirty throughout the one bedroom apartment, the glass in the coffee-table was damaged, and the accommodation was only set up for three people for towels. In addition to this, the sofa-bed and soft furnished chair in the lounge area had dirty and damaged upholstery. Avoid the resturant food - we had take-away once. It was disgusting and ended up in the bin.
Most worrying feature is that there were no smoke alarms in the apartments, and the second appartment we eventually got moved to had no protective cover over the electricity consumer unit because it was too close to the water fire extinguisher. A chair had also been convienently been left under this unit making it too easy for any inquisitive child climb on.
We had to phone reception every day for the first 10 days of this 'holiday' for things ranging from loosing the electricity supply when we used the cooker, to chasing up bedding and towels that did not get changed when they should have.
There was a complimentary can of cockroach spray left for us in the kichen area, but we thankfully did not need it.
The lagoon stank, the pools were freezing cold, and the one heated pool usually had patches of who-knows-what floating on its surface most days. My kids got out both times they used it as they felt it was dirty.
Nothing much for our children, the internet access was forever faulty, tennis court always booked as not much else to do, and any extras came at a cost.
The staff did try hard to sort thigs themselves, but we were not aware of any senior management personnel being present to sort our problems - all our help came from two very good reception staff.
We read some poor reviews before we went, but went with positive, open minds, but we now regret the day we booked Sands Beach for a holiday. Beware !!! No way a 4 star resort.

Sands Beach Villas: Fantastic! by Nicola Smalley |
| Posted 16 June 2006 about a visit in June 2006 | Overall rating: 9.9 |
This place was fantasic, the apartment was clean, comfortable, spacious and had a luxury shower, even a dishwasher. We got clean towls and maid service daily, apart from on change over day.
I loved how each group of apartments had a pool which could be seen from your apartment and was fantasic for kids. The view was lovely too as you could see the sea.
It was a little walk from the main square and the restaurants but it was worth the walk in my opinion!
Would definitely go there again!

Sands Beach Villas: Sands Beach Villas AKA Lanzarote Beach Club by Nick Neale |
| Posted 05 April 2005 about a visit in July 2002 | Overall rating: 8.0 |
Yes, in case you didn't know, Sands Beach Villas, is what used to be called The Lanzarote Beach Club.
If you're thinking of buying a villa here, beware! lots of other people bought this as a time-share resort and were ripped off.
Now they appear to be trying to sell it all over again.
However.....
The resort is very good and spacious, and the entertainment is mostly excellent downstairs in the nightclub. Don't miss PJ Thomas.
The Mai Tai is pricey for drinks, but has the only heated pool, and a wonderful waterfall.
If you want to explore the rest of Costa Teguise, Sands Beach Villas is right at the end of the seafront, which can seem a bit of a trek back at night. The best way is to walk back along the promenade, as it seems shorter.
After being called the Lanzarote Beach Club, this resort was also known as Pecatello Resort Hotel.
