We went to the Santa Maria in October 2005 with brother and sister in law to celebrate his 40th birthday. Partner & I in early 30's. They had only been to Majorca & Tunisia in the past but really liked Tenerife and where we stayed. We did not want an extravagant hotel as we like to get out and about but my partner and I had stayed here before (in 2001) and found hotel pleasant.
This whole area is hilly and would be difficult for people with walking diificulties but was fine for us and well situated for shops, bars and some excellent restaurants on the sea front. Rooms were clean and hotel had all the basic amenities you would expect although pool could do with being bigger for size of hotel.
Only complaint about this area in general is the people stepping in your path trying to get you in their restaurant/bar but worse than that sunglasses/hair braiding and the dodgy time share sales people. Sometimes its like running the gauntlet trying to go for a stroll. I do not even bother to be polite to the people trying to con me into jumping into a taxi to collect my prize from a scratch card!!!! Do they think we are stupid. Also be very careful if you are buying electrical goods ie cameras, buy a brand you know and dont let them sell you an item you havent seen in the UK. There is a scam to sell you JVC cameras but they are not made by JVC and are not very good quality at all.

We stayed at this aparthotel in August 2003 and found it a cracking place to stay.We are a very outgoing 40 something couple of night howlers. There was a little renovation work going on but it wasn't intrusive and some of it was right outside our door. The pool area is nicely surrounded by plants and shrubs offering some shade if you want it, great with a bar / restaurant just ideal for when an attack of the munchies or terrible thirst overtakes you, and the prices were not too bad. the studio apt we had was on pool level ,but the noise level was no probs. staff were forever cleaning and pleasant. The building entrance is on an incline but so is most of the island and there are restaurants, bars, shops and supermarkets in abundance within a few minutes walk, and some great english type pub/eating places in strolling distance, so is the market and beach/harbour,.All told a darn good location. ENJOY !!!!
