This apartment block is primarily set up as an all inclusive hotel, we went self catering and thats what we had to do. There is no crockery or cutlery provided or any cooking facilities. We had to buy a kettle and cups and made do with plastic plates and cutlery. There was a cooker in the apartment there was no gas canister for it.
It is advertised as having english speaking staff but the only person with a very basic understanding of english dissappeared just after we checked in and we could not make any of the staff understand and most only spoke Turkish or a few words of english and all the other guests were Turkish. The english speaker only returned the day before we were due to check out to say that we were to check out that day, we had a prolonged arguement to point out that they had the check out date wrong, but eventually they agreed with our date. This made for a very tense last day.
There is no safe deposit facility, although it is advertised as having one, but we were offered a safe at their sister hotel some distance away which seemed a bit strange to have all your valuables at a different location. We had to carry all our money,passports and flight tickets around with us all the time, which was a bit stressful. worrying about losing you bag or afraid to leave it unattended.
There is no exchange facility or bike rental facility either. The cafe. bar and restaurant are all run from the reception desk and it is the same set menu for every meal, every day and night. It also implies that there are facilites to arrange excursions on hand but this is not true either.
It is situated around 300m to the nearest beach and around 1.5km from the centre of Altinkum walking along a very dusty road with no pavement for part of the way. The apartment itself was very spacious and the cleaning staff were very good, you had to hand your key in when you wanted the apartment cleaned, but most days the cleaner or his wife would catch you on your way out and get the key, we were told there was only one key and we had it. The resort was very nice and we would consider returning to Altinkum as it's much quieter and less 'in your face' that Marmaris. There is plenty to do to fill two weeks and many lovely places to eat.

being pensioners 1 asthmatic need to know if these apparts have a lift. Requesting low floor doesn't always work.
