Secrets Excellence: Fantastic Hotel! by Stuart Foster |
| Posted 14 December 2005 about a visit in October 2005 | Overall rating: 9.6 |
My girlfriend and myself travelled here back in October of this year, from the moment we walked into reception the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Upopn check-in we we greated by a member of staff with cold towels and a cocktail drink, excellent and just waht you need after a 9 hour flight!!!
Check in was smooth and our luggage arrived at the room before we did.
The room was huge (although we did get upgraded to a honeymoon suite) very luxurious and came with a private in room jacuzzi. Great to relax in and watch the tv whilst your girlfriend is getting ready before you go for dinner!
The four poster bed was a kingsize, loads of room to spread out and very comfy may I add.
The rooms were cleaned daily, in fact our maid came in two or three times a day to empty bins, clean, replace towels and turn down the bed. She was extremely helpful.
The hotel is small and friendly compared to alot of the all inclusive hotels in the caribbean but not once did we feel crammed in. You could always get a sunbed by the pool or on the beach. I could always walk upto any of the bars and get served in no time at all.
I'm not going to go through all the facilities as you can see what the hotel has on the website, I'm just going to tell you about the ambience and the things they don't tell you on the website.
All but one of the restraunts are al a carte and I must say the food is beautiful. We had one bad meal at the French restraunt one night but the other two times we went it was fine.
One of the best we found was the sea food one, Oceanana. We never discovered this one until 3 days before we went home as we are not real sea food fans but the whole thing about this restraunt had something special.
We never tried the Mexican cusine as everybody we spoke to had not liked it, I wish after coming home we could have tried it now so we could have made our own decision.
The entertainment team were fantastic, Jochi, Venus, Junior and all the rest. We spent quite alot of time with them as we had a few rainy days.
This team alone really do make the hotel what it is, always smiling, friendly and will always remember your name. All of them are a real asset to the hotel.
We made many friends here but be warned this hotel is mostly an US clientell. This became alittle annoying sometimes as they can be very loud and overpowering, it just gets too much sometimes.
The people we did meet and speak to were great though.
The hotel is in a great location, no other hotels around. Its situated on its own beach which I recommend you walk along for a hour or so, fantastic!
All in all I was very impressed with this hotel, especially for an all inclusive caribbean resort.
I would say this is a very good 4* property a cut above the rest of the Dominican Republic.
