Sharm el Sheikh shopping

Don't feel obligated to go into shops if you are asked to sign the visitors book or take traditional drinks with them it is basically their way of getting you to buy their wares . Just say a polite no thank you and don't stop to talk KEEP WALKING they will get the message and won't be offended. The egyptian are very friendly people and after all are only trying to make a living.

The prices are very cheap for all things but to get a real bargain it is expected by the locals that you bargain them down to around half the asking price .

Sharm el Sheikh nightlife

8.0
If you want amazing night life go into narma bay , there is something there for everyone's taste.

Sharm el Sheikh restaurants

Eating out is also very reasonable even in narma bay at places like Hard Rock Cafe , Pizza Hut , and McDonalds but don't be afraid to try the local restaurants the food is very good and suits most tastes.

Sharm el Sheikh day trips

Don't miss out on a visit to the beach or coral reef it is absolutely amazing EEEK i can't swim i hear you say no problems neither can i but just walk onto the coral reef from the beach (water is warm as a bath) and you will see the fish or use your underwater camera and put it under the water from one of the many jetty's and you will get brilliant pics.

If you want to visit the pyramids at Giza don't be worried take an organised trip and you get amazing value for money. we went on a 2 day bus trip to giza it felt surreal i thought i was turning into Lara Croft !!!!

All of our food and entries into venues were included and the hotel we stayed in was 4* with an amazing view of the Pyramids at Giza, we also dined on the Nile twice and had a ride on an Egyptian Falucka boat which was amazing we visited Pyramids at Giza plateau and at Sakura and also saw the Sphinx light show WOW.

Sharm el Sheikh History and Culture

We were two ladies alone and yes we did get some unwanted attention but we just totally ignored the comments or you could say compliments !! and walked past without looking in their direction , i know this may seem intimidating but you do get used to it honestly!!.

You feel safe here and being two women on our own this reasured us police are all over and security is very obvious. We never saw any drunkeness or loutish behaviour which we thought was refreshing. On the subject of alcohol it is freely available all over Sharm and the prices are roughly what you would pay in the UK soft drinks slightly cheaper. the local beer is very nice it is called Stella !!!

Take a good mosquito repellant as we were warned that the mossies seem to be particularly thirsty here but having said that i only have 5 bites that responded well to a mossie relief lotion no probs at all.

Don't on any account drink the water or use it to clean you teeth as it is very rich in minerals and WILL make you ill same applies to ice cubes.

Getting to Sharm el Sheikh

The airport at Sharm is VERY Busy and you need to purchase a visa here if you wish to go out of Sharm. If you just want to stay in the Sharm resorts you don't need a Visa just go direct to baggage collection but remember if you change your mind it is too late you must buy it here.

Getting around Sharm el Sheikh

Tipping is expected EVERY where especially at the airport keep some loose change in egyptian money and dont pay them what they ask usually £20 egyptian pounds for a trolly , £10 egytian for the bus driver putting your case on the bus etc etc .

British money is accepted but the locals prefer Egyptian pounds , the exchange rates are much better over there than here here i got £9 egytian to british over there i got £12 egyptian to british so quite a big difference. If you pay for a trip we found it was much cheaper to pay by card you save about 8% to 10% on the total price if it is taken in american dollars.
