Pattaya isn't a great place to visit if you like decent 5 star hotels. The usual choices have been a 4 star Dusit, full of russian bucket and spade tourists, the Marriott (cornflake packet, airport hotel style place in town centre, or the Royal Cliff (formulaic 3 star with pretensions).
At last a decent hotel in pattaya! I've stayed half a dozen times since it opened, either in the two bed villa or in a deluxe ocean view pavillion.
The two bed villa is gorgeous - a private pool which isn't overlooked, our own butler for whom nothing was too much trouble, a living room with dining for 8 and the usual plasma screen/ Bose hi fi surround system. It works great for private parties - why do i always end up in the pool at 3am???
On a couple of occasions the chef has sorted out a private barbeque for us - with a fantastic buffet and staff to sort drinks and things. A great way of spending an evening in Pattaya with a dozen or so friends.
Thre's a lrage pool, good for laps. a second kids pool isn't used by kids much, one peeve - I'd prefer that at busy weekends young children confined to the shallow pool, leaving some more peace and quiet around the larger one.
Food is world class, Mezz is cutting edge (althoug needs a little more atmosphere), Elements has great buffet and a la carte choices. Breakfast among best in world.
Whether I've been here working or relaxing I'm amazed at the service offered.
Prices are good - circa 260 US for the pavillion and 1200 US for the two bed villa. Half the price of Bali.
