We originally booked to stay in the Juniper Hotel, the sister hotel of the Siesta, but were put in the Siesta anyway. It turned out to be a lovely hotel, lovely staff and lovely pool.

Some of the rooms on the first floor were dark so some of my friends were moved up to the 2nd floor where I was. The rooms were small, but most hotel rooms in Turkey are, but they were clean and the view from my balcony was amazing. I must admit the balcony was dirty and so were the 2 chairs and table, but I never sat out there anyway, and we had a few ants but they werent a problem. My room was above the bar so I asked if I could move, which was not a problem and I was put on the other side of the hotel. Aladdin, the manager, is very accommodating and very friendly.

Fatih and the lad who works on the bar were very nice, as was the older man who worked there. The breakfast is typical Turkish food, cucumber, boiled eggs, toast, tomatoes, but there are also cornflakes. Tea and coffee are available too (although I would take your own tea bags and coffee).

The pool area was nice and clean with plenty of sun loungers and padded chairs. The pool itself was lovely and has a childs' pool too which was also clean. We only ate at the Siesta for lunch so had snacks, chips, etc which were fine and it was also cheaper for lollies, drinks, etc than some cafes in the town.

The location was about a 10 minute stroll to the beach, 2 minutes to the main square in Icmeler and 1 minute from the top road which is full of restaurants and shops, and is also 2 minutes to the underground market. Its quite central really. You can get a dolmus (bus) at the top of the street or you can ring for a taxi to pick you up (both of which are extremely cheap).

The Siesta Hotel is very good value for money I would say and I would love to go back there again when I can. Myself, my 2 sons and all of my friends really enjoyed staying there. A work of warning though for the disabled and elderly, there is a ramp up to the hotel next to the steps but inside you have to go up and down stairs to get to the dining room and the pool. Apart from that I cant fault it.

stayed here in july, aug 2000 was not my ideal accomodation but was ok, the food was awful so ended up spending our money on eating out just as well it was cheap to eat out as we had not budgeted to eat out all the time we knew we would be eating out a couple of times but not all the time which it ended up being. the staff was ok although i think they were not treated very well by the management as we used to sneak food to the bar man as he worked very long hours with no food or thats what it seemed and what he made out? been back to icmeler but stayed in apartments see my review going back next year but to same apartments sorry siesta but food rotten!!!!!!!!!!!

Siesta: Yuk !! by Jos

A friend and I stayed in this hotel - albeit only for one night (we wouldn't stay there another night) and the top floor rooms resembled a Butlins room!!

My pillow was ripped, the curtains didn't fit the windows, the balcony was filthy, the bathroom was tiny as was the wardrobe - it would only have fitted one persons clothes in anyway!! The stairs up to the room were very poorly lit and the carpet on the stairs was ripped also.

We did complain to the First Choice rep who said it would cost us £100 each to move to another hotel and she couldn't guarantee it would be in Icmeler - it could be in Marmaris!! We wanted to be in Icmeler that's why we had booked Icmeler. She also offered us another room on a lower floor as she said they were bigger. Well....there was graffiti on the furniture!! We said NO!!

Anyway - we checked in to the hotel opposite Yavuz II - the rooms were light, airy, clean and we could both unpack. It cost us £75 each for six nights - the best £75 I have ever spent.

Complained to First Choice when we got back - including pictures and got back £85 between us!! They didn't even give us the amount we spent extra.

Helpful and friendly staff Adem, Oz and Amet, there's also cleaning staff aswell (sorry I never got their names but they were very good too). Watch out cos we will return!!!
