Hotel Simar is situated next to the Don Pedro, owned by same group. Basically the Simar is spilt into two buildings separated by a road. Reception is building 1 next to Don Pedro and restaurant is in building 2.

Visited 30/9 to 7/10 2006. We were located in Building 1 and had a decent room (58) which overlooked Cala Caleta bay.

Hotel is quite old, built 27 years ago and has one lift in each building as far as I could tell, one drawback however is that lift was not accessible in either building till level 1 so means you have approx 26 steps to climb with case before you get to lifts.

Rooms were basic but clean, wardrobe space adequate but not massive. TV in room but only 2 English channels CNN and Eurosport.

Also no lights on balconies which is unusual.

There is a small pool area but also a sun terrace which is adults only, however week I was there clientele were definitely in the "Golden Oldie" category which was fine by me.

Entertainment very low key, small bar(non smoking) as are most Hotel bars now in Spain. Mostly a singer or duo plus odd quiz night.

I found food to be very good no complaints at all. Hotel does money exchange and do not charge, rate slightly less than in two other places in resort but they charged 2 or 3 % to change money.

Hotel information was poor there is an option to go all inclusive but nowhere was this stated from what I could see. Normally one gets some info on a leaflet in room but none at all in room we were in.

Resort is very small basically two bays one being Costa Calata and other Costa Molins bay this could be reached by some steep steps or walking round the bay. If English bars are your thing, only one, Trotters but 1 or 2 other bars and restaurants.

There is a local bus to Pollensa or Puerto Pollensa but they only run approx every 3 hours. Taxi would be 12 euro, Bus 1 euro 10 cents.

Couple of Supermarkets and 3/4 souvenir shops but really that's all. Resort would suit older couples but not ideal for anyone with walking difficulties.

I booked this as a late deal and found it to be excellent value for money paid.

According to Rep, Cilla Black owns a villa very close to Hotel so you may bump into her, don't let that put you off however!
