| We came here as part of our multi-centre honeymoon direct from Bangkok, and the contrast was amazing!
Singapore is so clean, open, green and orderly. The people are friendly and the place is immaculate. The public transport is wonderful - very cheap, efficient and spotless (partly because eating and drinking is forbidden).
We stayed for 3 nights, and could have stayed for another one or two easily. On the first day, we took an organised "City Tour" excursion for the afternoon - this was really useful to get a sense of the city and its geography. It also stopped at the Orchid Garden (part of the Botanical Gardens), which was beautiful. We went to Raffles in the evening (it was only a short walk from our hotel), which has to be done (although the Singapore Slings are very expensive!).
After that, we decided to explore independently using public transport, as it was a lot cheaper, and you can set your own timetable. We visited Jurong Bird Gardens and the Night Zoo - both excellent. We also visited Orchid Road, which has a huge number of designer shops. To be honest, Singapore doesn't seem to be the place for cheap electronics anymore, and many of the clothes shops were very expensive. However, it was great for window shopping!
We both loved the city and would love to go back and see more of it. |
