My husband and I have just returned from 2 weeks at Sirenis Cocotal Beach Resort. We had an excellent holiday there exactly 2 years earlier, and couldn't wait to get back there, but we have returned very disappointed.
There is a really poor standard of staffing, they are rude and totally disinterested in the English clientelle. The food has become very poor quality, no dishes actually going together. There aren't enough sunbed mattresses to go with the sunbeds, and the one's they do have are incredibly old and tatty. The beach is often dirty, your feet regularly finding dog-ends and other rubbish in the sand. Reception had hardly comprehension of the English language, the bar staff totally ignore you until the Canadians, Americans and French have been served, even if you were there first.
Needless to say, we won't be returning - in fact, this visit has cured us of what was our ideal 'dream holiday' in the Dominican Republic.

went to serenis in dec. 2001, very empty, no american guests at all . allto scared to fly,
lovely place, but isolated better to go in a group.
the buffet food was very good. breakfast excellant.
not impressed with the italian restaurant.
staff a bit strange not very chatty.
shows were poor.

I have been on different site to read comments on this property as I'm amazed by the negative people. Without saying where the negativety comes from if you start surfing the web to read about this property just notice where the people complaining come from and it will tell you all. I, by no mean am influence by this, it's always what you make of your vacation that makes the vacation. Smile pervail
