Sol Pelicanos Ocas: very dissapointing by Derek Jardine |
| Posted 08 January 2005 about a visit in November 2004 | Overall rating: 7.0 |
Stayed here for 3 weeks although this was the worst weather Benidorm has had for years we can`t blame the hotel but the food was terrible there was no where to warm the plates, By the time you got back to the table with the food that was eatable it was spoilt as all the plates were always cold, the choice of food was very poor, There was chicken, stewed veal.or boiled veal, or curried veal, or veal pie, followed by cake, jelly, custard you do get sick of the same things. The room was ok with a nice view of the beautiful outdoor pool the maid cleaned the room and changed the towels every day and did a first class job, another fault was every time you had a bath the steam would set the alarm off and you would get a phone call from reception, In the dinning room it looked as though it was expected for every one to clear there own table because when they got up they always had plates which they put on the trolley. so would i go back NO

Sol Pelicanos Ocas: Excellent Hotel by Sandra Lepick |

We are just home after staying the the Pelicanos. The hotel is lovely, really clean with nice rooms. The miad service was good and towels were frequently changed.
Food was plentiful but not always to all of our tastes but there was always something you could have. The hotel is very central to everything that is going on. There was daytime and nighttime entertainment, although we never stayed in for it. There's too much going on in Benidorm. The pool area is absolutely beautiful. The brochures and the website just do not do it justice. We could be found most days in the jacuzzi area, it was lovely and relaxing. We have been to Benidorm 5 times now and this was probably the nest hotel yet.

Sol Pelicanos Ocas: SOL OCAS PELICANOS 27TH JAN --3RD FEB 04 by Beryl Reynolds |

just got back after a week in the ocas we were supposed to be staying in the pelicanos but if this happens to you dont worry the ocas is a beautiful hotel in its own right and you have full use of the ameneties in both hotels. the hotel is central to most of the night life but was never noisy at night. the food was excellent with full english breakfast every morning with champagne if you wanted it. the room was spotless as was all the public areas.there was entertainment during the day and evening if you wanted it this ranged from line dancing lessons to quizzes and bowles . in the evening there was a varied entertainment program although we were out every night we have never been in january before and thought the place would be very quiet but we were wrong it was great all the clubs were open with lots of people there this was our 4th visit to the ocas and i would give it 10 out of 10 in every catagory dont bother with all the toiletries shampoo shower gell and shower caps and soap are all provided with clean towels every day.the pool area in the pelicanos is the best i have seen with a swim up bar open in high season its like a lagoon style lake with plenty of sunbeds available.we will definitely be going back

Sol Pelicanos Ocas: Sol Ocas by Ronniet |

I visted this hotel in June 2003 it is is one of two on the complex the other being the Sol Pelicanos. If you booked with a UK tour operator you will not be able to choose which one of these you will stay in it will be alocated to you on arrival. Not to worry as the both of them are great hotels.
My personal favourite is the Ocas the smaller of the two
,the staff seem more attentive and the food is slightly better than in the Pelicanos, the diningroom and public areas were renovated in 2002 and a very large freeform swimming pool built at the rear of the complex. To get to
the pool from the Ocas you have to walk through the Pelicanos and there are a number of steps. The Ocas is a really clean and tidy hotel with great staff and a really helpful reception. It is about 500 yards to the beach and at the start of the strip so there is no noise. One point however when you are booking in ask for a floor on the left side of the hotel as the lower floors on the right are facing the stairway of the indoor market.Although there had been major building works taking place outside both these hotels it had been nearing completion when we left.
