this hotel was a great place to go sightseeing from it is basic but clean with plenty of fresh bedding and towels which the cleaners fold into different shapes every day for you one day we had a swan on the bed the next we had pyramids!! we went b+b and the breakfast is well worth getting up for cereals and toast, fresh fruit salad every day as well as a hot selection which changed daily.the bar in the basement is compact which is a great atmosphere to swap sightseeing tales in,meena has a computer down there and if you fancy a particular record on he's more than happy to find it on the web for you and play it .the rooftop area is great, good food during the day and the pool is small but enough for a hotel this size the views up there have to be seen to be believed.and at 25 degrees in january you can't beat the weather.top tip!!!! when walking down the roads walk against the traffic otherwise the kalesh's (horse & cart) will follow you for ages.

St Joseph: June 1999 St Joseph by Sonique

Wow - it's certainly hot at the rooftop swimming pool in June! The pool, thankfully, was not heated, which meant you rotated between 5 mins on your sun-lounger, then 10 mins in the pool, then a cool drink from the rooftop bar. The hotel itself is basic, with old-fashioned noisy air-conditioning units. The staff in the restaurant did try to rip us off one night, which led to an embarrasing incident with the rep when she 'told the staff off' in front of us. We only wanted to get the matter settled fairly and did not expect the rep to go off on one like that. Apart from this minor incident and the noisy air-conditioning, the hotel certainly did the job. The adjoining silver jewellery shop had the cheapest prices I found in Luxor. This hotel is a good, reasonably priced base for visiting Luxor. The sun-worshipper will also love the rooftop terrace, with its amazing views over the nile.
