| St Julian's Bay Review: What a Dump | | Written by Leo1 on 18 Nov 2003
| Never again. St Julians is the dirtiest, scruffiest and most miserable place I have ever been to on holiday, and it makes the old Eastern Block countries seem like paradise in comparison.
We had a week there in September 2003, and I can honestly say we weren`t impressed with Malta at all and were very, very disappointed. In fact, on arrival at the Airport, the scenery got worse and worse the further away from the Airport we got. During our whole week there, didn`t see one blade of grass or any greenery at all.
I really don`t know to whom Malta would appeal. We went thinking there would be a lot to see historically (we aren`t interested in just lying in the sun). The World War II museum was interesting and Mdina and Gozo worth a visit - otherwise the best place was definitely the Airport on the way home.
Paceville was hideous - last night`s sick all over the paths, broken bottles, litter and syringes scattered around. Even at 4 pm you have to keep on the other side of the roads from drunken roaming gangs of teenagers (all seemed to be British unfortunately) as otherwise, as we found, you are just pushed out of the way and if comment was made on their loutish behaviour and rudness, we were sworn and jeered at.
I feel sorry for the Maltese people as they werevery friendly and genuinely welcome you to their island.
Malta - Never again! |
